The ninth season of the Bellator Fighting Championships will be coming to a close on Friday Night with another big night filled with MMA action. The season nine finale will be headlined by a middleweight title bout between Alexander Shlemenko and Doug Marshall. There is also a seven fight preliminary card that will feature fourteen fighters preparing to make an impact at the seasons end.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Ahsan Abdullah (5-3-0) competes against Mike “The Cannon†Bannon (4-1-0). Abdullah will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and this fight will be his sixth bout of 2013. Cannon will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Cosmo Alexandre at Bellator 77. Abdullah has been the more active fighter when compared to Bannon, which will help carry him to a victory.
A pair of welterweights are set to fight next as Andrew “Ozzy†Osborne (7-7-0-1NC) does battle against Michael “Venom†Page (5-0-0). Osborne has only won one of his last four fights, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Ryan LaFlare. Page is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and none of his fights have gone past the opening round. Page has a very bright future ahead of his in the MMA universe and he will show why when he defeats Osborne.
Heavyweight division action is up next as Keith “Bad News†Bell (4-3-0) is in action against Blagoi Ivanov (8-0-0-1NC). Bell will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he has yet to have a fight go past the second round. Ivanov has already won three fights under the Bellator banner and he has also defeated former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez. Ivanov has already defeated a big name fighter in his career and he will add another victim to the list when he defeats Bell in this one.
More lightweight division action is up as Saul “The Spider†Almeida (13-4-0) dukes it out with Goiti Yamauchi (15-1-0). Almeida has only won one of his last four fights, but he is coming off of a victory over Aguilano Brandao at Combat Zone 45. Yamauchi will enter the fight riding a ten fight winning streak, which includes a victory over Musa Toliver at Bellator 99. Yamauchi is on the way to becoming the next big breakout star in Bellator and a second victory in Bellator will show why.
Another lightweight division encounter is next as Terrell “The Hollywood Hobbit†Hobbs (9-5-0) battles Bubba “The Highlight Kid†Jenkins (4-1-0). Hobbs will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak, which includes a win at Bellator 83 over Brylan Van Artsdalen. Jenkins will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Larue Burley at Bellator 100. Jenkins was upset big time in his last fight against Burley, but will rebound to defeat Hobbs to get back in form.
Up next is a welterweight division battle as Brett Glass (2-0-0) stands across the cage from Brent Primus (3-0-0). Glass is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and will be making his Bellator debut in this fight. Primus is also undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with a key victory coming over Scott Thometz at Bellator 101. Somebodies “0†has to go in this one and it will be Primus putting an end to the undefeated streak of Glass.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division affair as Lester Caslow (10-8-0-1NC) faces Jay Haas (11-12-0-1NC). Caslow will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he has previously fought UFC veteran Felipe Arantes. Hass has only won one of his last seven bouts, with that lone victory coming over Eddie Fyvie at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 24. Caslow may not have the best record in all of MMA right now, but he is a far superior fighter than Haas and that will show when he gets the victory.
