CAGE WARRIORS 62 FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/4/2013 3:15 PM

Following a busy three event day on Friday, the Cage Warriors promotion will kick off a three event Saturday with another big card. The headliner will be seeing UFC veteran Ulysses Gomez challenge Neil Seery for the promotions flyweight strap. There is also a huge six fight preliminary card that will stream live on Facebook, which will include a pair of key women’s bouts.

Kicking off the action is a women’s bantamweight division fight as Kerry “Rock Steady” Hughes (1-0-0) competes against Agnieszka “Kuma” Niedzwiedz (4-0-0). Hughes made her professional MMA debut this past summer at Ultimate Challenge MMA 35, defeating LJ Adams. Niedzwiedz will be making her Cage Warriors debut in this bout and she has yet to have a fight go to the judge’s scorecard. This is an excellent bout to kick off the live stream, but it will be Niedzwiedz remaining undefeated in the end.

A pair of bantamweights are in action next as Jordan Desborough (7-3-0) is in action against Martin Sheridan (6-4-0). Desborough is competing for the first time since losing in the Cage Warriors Bantamweight Title Tournament Finals to Brett Johns at Cage Warriors 59. Sheridan has only won one of his last four fights, with that lone victory coming over Nathan Rose at Ultimate Challenge MMA 36. Desborough was a victory away from becoming bantamweight champion, but he will get back on track by defeating Sheridan here.

More women’s bantamweight division action is next as Emma Delaney (0-0-0) does battle against Laura “Hot Head” Howarth (0-0-0). Delaney will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she did go winless as an amateur. Howarth will also be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but she did go undefeated as an amateur. Delaney made a bad choice by turning pro so soon and that will show when Howarth gets her first pro victory.

Welterweight division action is up next as Dan Hope (10-5-0) stands across the cage from Tommy Quinn (5-1-0). Hope will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in just about two years. Quinn will return to the cage after being away for almost a year, with his last fight being a win over Philip Mulpeter at Cage Warriors 51. These are two of the better up and coming welterweights in Cage Warriors right now, but it will be Hope defeating the recently inactive Quinn.

Up next is a middleweight division fight as Leeroy Barnes (12-12-1) will step into the cage against Ronan McKay (9-11-0). Barnes will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and this fight will be his fourth battle in the year 2013. McKay will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, but he has not competed in well over a year. This fight has no business being on the streaming portion of the preliminary card, but it will be McKay winning his third straight either way.

Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as Alex Enlund (8-2-0-1NC) faces Danny Lawson (8-3-0). Enlund has won two of three fights under the Cage Warriors banner, most notably defeating Sebastian Romanowski at Cage Warriors 58. Lawson will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this battle, but he has only had one of eleven career fights go to a decision. This fight is easily worthy of a main card spot at this event, but it will be Enlund getting the win either way.
