CAGE WARRIORS 62 MMAJUNKIE.COM MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/4/2013 6:51 PM

Our first of three MMA events on Saturday will kick off with a big Cage Warriors event that is taking place in the United Kingdom. The event will be headlined by a flyweight title bout as Neil Seery defends the gold against UFC veteran Ulysses Gomez. Also, UFC veteran Curt Warburton makes his promotional debut and Chris Fishgold battles Olivier Pastor in a key bout.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Ian “Enty” Entwistle (7-1-0) competes against Liam “Bad Intentions” James (8-5-0). Entwistle is returning to Cage Warriors after a two year layoff from the promotion, but does return riding a three fight winning streak. James has won three of five under the Cage Warriors banner, last defeating Akhad Mamedov at Cage Warriors 58. Entiwistle may have been away from the promotion for a while now, but he will return with a bang as he defeats James.

A pair of light heavyweights will clash next as Richie Knox (3-0-0) will be in action against Karl Moore (3-0-0). Knox will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bout and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Moore will also be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bout and he is a veteran of the Cage Contenders promotion. This is a huge opportunity for both fighters to be battling on the main card, but it will be Knox taking advantage of the opportunity by getting a win.

Featherweights will be stepping into the cage next as Chris Fishgold (9-0-0) takes on Olivier “Wide Eyed” Pastor (18-14-0-1NC). Fishgold has already competed twice in Cage Warriors and he has only had one career fight go to the judge’s scorecard. Pastor has only won one of his last four fights, with that lone victory coming over Yuma Ishizuka at a Roundhouse MMA event. Fishgold is quickly becoming a top contender in the featherweight division and he will get closer to a title shot when he defeats Pastor.

Up next is a lightweight division contest as Wesley “The Immortal” Murch (13-6-0) faces Curt “The War” Warburton (12-4-0). Murch will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he will do so riding a four fight winning streak. Warburton has won five of six bouts since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Joe Lauzon at UFC On Versus IV. Warburton has been on a fantastic run since exiting the UFC and that run will continue when he defeats Murch in this one.

Headlining this event is a Cage Warriors Flyweight Title fight as champion Neil “2 Tap” Seery (13-9-0) defends against “Useless” Ulysses Gomez (9-4-0). Seery will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Mikael Silander at Cage Warriors 55. Gomez will be fighting for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Phil Harris at UFC On Fuel TV VII. Gomez was once the rising king of the flyweights until he fell hard in recent months and the fall will continue for him as Seery makes a successful title defense.
