WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING VII MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 12/6/2013 10:59 AM

As the MMA calendar comes to a close in just a few short weeks, it does so with a bang and that bang includes six big MMA cards this weekend. The World Series Of Fighting VII card will close everything out, with the crowning of the first featherweight champion in the main event. Also, a middleweight title tournament semi-final fight will happen and top rated Nick Newell will be in action.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division attraction as Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis (13-8-0) competes against Kalib Starnes (15-8-1). Lewis has only won one of his last three fights, but those losses came to UFC veterans Ryan Jimmo and Wilson Gouveia. Starnes is a UFC veteran who enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Tim Hague. Starnes is way beyond the skilled fighter who once competed in the UFC, but he has enough left in him to defeat Lewis in the main card opener.

Lightweights will be stepping into the cage next as “The Persian Warrior” Sabah Fadai (7-2-0-1NC) battles “Notorious” Nick Newell (10-0-0). Fadai will be returning to action after being away for over a year, but his last fight was a victory over Cody Krahn at Maximum Fighting Championships 35. Newell made his promotional debut back at the WSOF IV when he defeated Keon Caldwell by first round submission. Fadai is a worthy opponent for Newell, but Newell will get past him on route to a potential light title shot in 2014.

Up next is a WSOF Middleweight Title Tournament Semi-Final Fight as “The King” Elvis Mutapcic (13-2-0) faces Jesse “JT Money” Taylor (26-9-0). Mutapcic will enter the tournament riding a five fight winning streak and he is the former Maximum Fighting Championships Middleweight Champion. Taylor will enter this fight riding a six fight winning streak and he is the current Cage Warriors Middleweight Champion. This fight has been rescheduled following the whole NJSAC/Elvis Mutapcic situation, but things go right this time around and Mutapcic picks up the victory to advance to the finals.

Headlining this card is a bout for the vacant WSOF Featherweight Title as “Insane” Georgi Karakhanyan (22-3-1) takes on Lance “The Party” Palmer (7-0-0). Karakhanyan will enter the bout riding an eight fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Waylon Lowe at WSOF V. Palmer will be making his WSOF debut in this fight, but he is the current Resurrection Fighting Alliance Featherweight Champion. Palmer is going to provide a much bigger challenge than original opponent Rick Glenn would have for Karakhanyan, but Karakhanyan will still walk away with the belt.
