Capping off the first of two big nights of MMA action this weekend is another stellar card from the Xtreme Fighting Championships. Despite the loss of UFC veteran Junior Assuncao in the main event, the card will still be headlined by the XFC Featherweight Tournament Finals. The preliminary card, despite being just for those in attendance, features five fights worth checking out.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division attraction as Jacob Butler (0-0-0) competes against Joel Vincent (0-0-0). Butler will be making his professional MMA debut, but there is no record of him competing as an amateur. Vincent will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did win two of five as an amateur. Vincent may not have had the best run as an amateur, but he does have more experience that Butler in that regard, which will help get him the victory.
Welterweight division action will be happening next as Roy Saldana (0-0-0) is in action against Andres Torres (0-0-0). Saldana will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, with little amateur experience to speak of. Torres will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did compete as an amateur. It is always a pick ‘em type of situation when two fighters are making their pro debus, but I’ll go with Torres to get his first pro win.
A pair of lightweight division competitors will battle next as Drew Morais (0-0-0) takes on David Rohn (1-1-0). Morais will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does have experience competing as an amateur. Rohn will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Eddie Lenoci at Ring Of Combat 45. Rohn may not have the most spectacular pro record right now, but that professional MMA experience will carry him to a win in this one.
Up next is a middleweight division attraction as Andy Carter (0-0-0) stands across the cage from Kenneth Green (0-0-0). Carter will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did win five of eight as an amateur. Green will also be making his professional MMA debut, but he did not compete as an amateur to gain any experience. Carter has a wealth of amateur experience heading into this bout and that experience will help him earn his first pro victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a light heavyweight division fight as Shamir “Bam Bam†Garcia (2-0-0) faces Ray Lopez (7-5-0). Garcia will be making his XFC debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Lopez has only won one of his last four fights, with one of those losses coming to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski. Garcia has been dominating the competition thus far in his young MMA career and he will earn the biggest win of his career thus far when he defeats Lopez.
