The first of what will like be many UFC events taking place in Brazil this year kicks off this Saturday Night with UFC Fight Night 36. The event will be headlined by a potential middleweight title eliminator between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi. Also, there is a second key middleweight division bout and top welterweight prospect Erick Silva is in action.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division battle as Andy “The Little Axe†Ogle (9-3-0) competes against Charles “Do Bronx†Oliveira (16-4-0-1NC). Ogle has won one of three fights under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Josh Grispi at UFC On Fuel TV VII. Oliveira will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in nearly two years. Oliveira is light years ahead of Ogle when it comes to overall MMA skills and that will show when he dominates Ogle for the win.
A pair of welterweights are duking it out next as Viscardi Andrade (17-5-0) is in action against Nicholas “Nico†Musoke (11-2-0-1NC). Andrade is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Bristol Murande by TKO at UFC 163. Musuke is also undefeated under the UFC banner, with his win coming over Alessio Sakara at UFC Fight Night 30. This is a huge opportunity for both fighters and it will be Musoke taking advantage of the opportunity to get the win.
More welterweight division action is up next as Takenori Sato (17-8-7) takes on Erick “Indio†Silva (15-4-0-1NC). Sato will make his UFC debut while riding an eight fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in almost four years. Silva has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with his last fight being a loss to Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night 29. Silva is a prospect that cannot seem to get on track, which is what Sato will take advantage of to pull the upset.
Up next is a middleweight division attraction as Francis “Limitless†Carmont (22-7-0) battles Ronaldo “Jacare†Souza (19-3-0-1NC). Carmont will enter the fight riding an eleven fight winning streak, which includes six wins in UFC competition. Souza is currently undefeated in UFC competition and he is a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. The winner of this bout is nearing a potential title opportunity and it will be Souza using his better ground skills to get the win.
Headlining this card is a middleweight division attraction as Lyoto “The Dragon†Machida (20-4-0) faces Gegard “The Dreamcatcher†Mousasi (34-3-2). Machida is currently undefeated as a middleweight in the UFC, having defeated Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night 30. Mousasi is also undefeated in UFC competition and he is a former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. The winner of this fight will be next is line for a shot at the UFC Middleweight Title and it will be Machida getting that title shot.
