LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 28 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/18/2014 10:56 PM

While the attention will be focused on the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title on Saturday Night, it will be the Legacy FC Middleweight Title getting the attention on Friday Night. That is due to the fact that champion William Bush will be defending the gold against Rakim Cleveland in the main event of Legacy Fighting Championships 28. Also, UFC veteran Damacio Page will be in action and Bellator veteran Cosmo Alexandre will make his promotional debut.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division attraction as Allan Nelson (2-1-0) competes against Evan Thompson (3-0-0). Nelson is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated Cameron Martin at Legacy FC 23. Thompson has spent his entire career in the Legacy FC promotion, as he officially turned pro in late 2012. This is a great bout to kick off the card, but it will be Thompson remaining undefeated when this one is said and done.

Bantamweights will be stepping into the cage next as Nelson Salas (4-2-0) is in action against Eli “Tomahawk” Tamez (6-0-0). Salas will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in nearly two years’ time. Tamez has already competed twice under the Legacy FC banner, defeating both Nathan Torres and Eliazar Rodriguez. Tamez is a fighter on the rise in Legacy FC and his rise is going to continue when he hands Salas his third straight defeat.

More bantamweight action is taking place next as “The Angel Of Death” Damacio Page (16-9-0) does battle against Matthew “SMG” Lozano (4-1-0). Page has only won one of his last six fights, with that lone win coming over Patrick Ybarra at Legacy FC 20. Lozano is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated Klayton Mai at Legacy FC 24. Page has not been a contender since his days in the WEC and Lozano will be scoring the biggest win of his career as he upsets Page.

A pair of lightweights will clash next as Rey “The Warrior” Trujillo (14-12-0) battles Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre (5-1-0). Trujillo has won two of five in his second Legacy FC run, but he will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak. Alexandre will be making his promotional debut in this bout after spending his entire career in Bellator. Alexandre is light years ahead of Trujillo when it comes to the striking game and that will show when he makes a successful promotional debut.

Up next is a featherweight division affair as Hunter Tucker (6-1-0) takes on Damon “The Leech” Jackson (7-0-0). Tucker has won one of two in Legacy FC competition, with his last fight being a victory over Douglas Frey at Legacy FC 24. Jackson has won his previous Legacy FC bout and he has yet to have any of his fights go to the judge’s scorecard. These are two of the better unsigned featherweights in MMA right now, but it will be Jackson getting the win to remain undefeated.

Headlining this card is a Legacy FC Middleweight Title bout as champion Bubba Bush (6-2-0) defends the gold against Rakim Cleveland (8-3-0). Bush will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Larry Crowe at Legacy FC 21. Cleveland will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak, with only one of those fights going past the opening round. Bush is quickly becoming a prospect to keep an eye on and his stock will rise as he successfully defends the gold over Cleveland.
