For the second time in an eight day period, there is a full UFC event airing live on the UFC Fight Pass network. The second of these events is UFC Fight Night 38, which will be headlined by light heavyweights Alexander Gustafsson and Jimi Manuwa. There is a six fight preliminary card as well, with top flyweight Louis Gaudinot and longtime veteran Cyrille Diabate in action.
Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Louis “Goodnight†Gaudinot (6-3-0) competes against Phil “Billy†Harris (22-11-0-1NC). Gaudinot has won one of three fights under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over John Lineker at UFC On Fox III. Harris has also won one of three fights under the UFC banner, with his victory coming over Ulysses Gomez at UFC On Fuel TV VII. This fight is a dark horse candidate for “fight of the nightâ€, but it will be Harris walking away with the win in the end.
A pair of welterweights will clash next as Igor Araujo (24-6-0-1NC) is in action against Danny “The Cheesecake Assassin†Mitchell (14-4-1). Araujo is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Ildemar Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 29. Mitchell will make his UFC debut riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Besam Yousef. Araujo looked very good in his UFC debut and he will look good in his sophmore effort when he defeats Mitchell.
Bantamweight division action is up next as “Stunning†Roland Delorme (9-2-0-1NC) does battle against “Dangerous†Davey Grant (8-2-0). Delorme has won three of five under the UFC banner, with a notable victory over Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161. Grant is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping a fight to Chris Holdsworth at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. Delorme is quickly rising to become a contender in the division and he will take one step closer when he defeats Grant.
We move to the middleweight division for the next bout as Brad “Bear†Scott (9-2-0) battles Claudio Henrique “Mineiro†Da Silva (9-1-0). Scott will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Michael Kuiper at UFC Fight Night 30. Da Silva will be making his UFC debut riding a nine fight winning streak, with his last win coming over UFC veteran Xavier Foupa-Pokam. Da Silva has been out of action for a little over a year now and that is going to effect him as Scott ends his winning streak.
Up next is a middleweight division affair as Luke “Bigslow†Barnatt (7-0-0) takes on Mats Nilsson (11-2-1). Barnatt has won his two previous UFC bouts, defeating both Collin Hart and Andrew Craig respectively. Nilsson will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he has previously fought UFC veterans Tom Speer and Tor Troeng. Barnatt is quickly becoming a player for the UFC and he will continue his rise as he defeats Nilsson in this one.
Headlining this portion of the card is a light heavyweight division bout as Cyrille “The Snake†Diabate (19-9-1) faces Ilir “The Sledgehammer†Latifi (7-3-0-1NC). Diabate has won four of seven fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Luiz Cane at UFC 114. Latifi is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping a fight to Gegard Mousasi at UFC On Fuel TV IX. Diabate has seen far better fighters that what Latifi will be offering, Diabate will take home the much needed win.
