It is funny to think that a new One FC Welterweight Champion will be crowned the same week as a new UFC Welterweight Champion. That is because a bout between UFC veteran Brock Larson and Nobutatsu Suzuki to crown the inagural welterweight champion will headline One FC 14. Also, UFC veterans Yasuhiro Urushitani and Kamal Shalorus will be stepping into the cage this Friday Night.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division bout as Peter Davis (7-3-0) competes against Waqar Umar (3-0-0). Davis has won four of five fights under the One FC banner, with a notable victory over Alaa Mazloum at One FC 12. Umar will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Davis has quickly become a top contender in the One FC Lightweight Division and he will get closer to a title shot with another win.
More lightweight division action is next as Kotetsu “No Face†Boku (20-9-2) is in action against Arnaud “The Game†Lepont (10-3-0). Boku has only won one of three in One FC competition, with one of those losses coming to the legendary Shinya Aoki. Lepont has also earned just one victory in the company as well in three tries, his lone win came over Brian Choi at One FC IV. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Boku coming out on top in the end.
Flyweight division action will be happening next as Shinichi “BJ†Kojima (13-5-5) does battle against Andrew Leone (6-2-0). Kojima is currently undefeated in One FC competition, with his win coming over Rey Docyogen at One FC VII. Leone has won two of three bouts under the One FC banner, with a notable win over Geje Eustaquio at One FC IX. Kojima is easily the biggest challenge Leone has faced in his career, but he will earn the biggest win of his career when its all over.
Another lightweight division bout is up next as Ariel “Tarzan†Sexton (8-2-0-1NC) stands across the cage from Kamal “The Prince Of Persia†Shalorus (8-3-2). Sexton will make his One FC debut on a three fight winning streak, which includes a win over One FC veteran Peter Davis. Kamal is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in One FC competition, defeating Eduard Folayang at One FC IX. Shalorus has gotten back on track since his UFC release and he will stay on track when he defeats the debuting Sexton.
Even more flyweight division action is on the card next as Adriano “Mikinho†Moraes (9-1-0) battles Yasuhiro Urushitani (21-6-6). Moraes is currently winless under the One FC banner, dropping a fight to Yusup Saadulaev at One FC 12. Urushitani has been undefeated since getting his UFC release, which came after a loss to John Lineker at UFC On Fuel TV VI. Urushitani was once considered to be one of the best flyweights in MMA and he will continue his return to form as he defeats Moraes.
Up next is a bantamweight division battle as Kevin “The Silencer†Belingon (12-3-0) faces Dae Hwan Kim (9-0-1). Belingon has won three of his last four in One FC competition, last defeating David Santacana at One FC 13. Kim made his promotional debut back at One FC 13, which is where he defeated Thanh Vu by submission. This is a potential title eliminator in the division and it will be Kim staying undefeated and earning that potential shot.
Headlining this card is a bout to crown the inagural One FC Welterweight Champion as Brock Larson (37-7-0) takes on Nobutatsu Suzuki (10-1-2). Larson is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Melvin Manhoef at One FC VIII. Suzuki is also undefeated under the One FC banner, defeating UFC veteran Phil Baroni at One FC IX. Both fighters are on pretty decent rolls heading into this historical bout, but it will be Suzuki leaving with the gold.
