This coming Friday Night will easily go down as the biggest night in the history of the Legacy Fighting Championships promotion. The event will be headlined by a pair of title fights as UFC veteran Leonard Garcia defends the featherweight belt and UFC veteran Paul Buentello challenges for the light heavyweight strap. Also, UFC veteran Jonathan Brookins makes his promotional debut and WEC veteran Mike Budnik is in action.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division affair as Daniel Hauenstein (4-4-0) competes against Jerod Spoon (6-4-1). Hauenstein has won three of his last four heading into his Legacy FC debut, with a notable win coming over Cody Fuller at Oklahoma KO V. Spoon has only won one of his last four fights and he has previously appeared in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Hauenstein is on quite a good roll right now, even with the sub par record, and he will get by Spoon to get above the .500 mark.
Welterweight division action will be happening next as Art “The Shark†Parker (4-2-0) is in action against Andrew “The Sniper†Todhunter (4-0-0). Parker will make his promotional debut on a two fight winning streak and he has only had one fight go past the opening round. Todhunter will also be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Xtreme Fight Night promotion. Todhunter has looked great under the Xtreme Fight Night promotion and he will look great with a win as he comes over to Legacy FC.
A pair of lightweights will collide next as Gilbert “Durinho†Burns (6-0-0) does battle against Mike “Wildfire†Budnik (13-4-0). Burns will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Budnik will make his Legacy FC debut on a five fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in almost four years. Budnik has been waiting for the spotlight since the WEC shut down and he will get some when he ends the undefeated streak of Burns.
More lightweight division action will be taking place next as Chris “The Enigma†Pecero (11-5-0) dukes it out with Thomas “Thunder Kick†Longacre (6-0-0). Pecero is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, defeating both Adam Schindler and Ray Rodriguez. Longacre is returning to action after a three year layoff, but he is a veteran of the Strikeforce promotion. Longacre has been out of action for a longtime now and that is going to hurt him as Pecero wins his third straight in Legacy FC.
We move to the flyweight division as Cody Fuller (10-7-0) will be taking on Jonathan Brookins (13-6-0). Fuller is currently winless in Legacy FC competition, having dropped a fight to Ryan Benoit at Legacy FC 24. Brookins will be competing for the first time since his UFC release and he was the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 champion. Brookins has not been on much of a roll in recent years, but he will make good in his Legacy FC debut by defeating Fuller.
Up next is a bout for the vacant Legacy FC Light Heavyweight Title as Myron Dennis (9-2-0) battles Paul “The Head Hunter†Buentello (33-15-0). Dennis will be making his promotional debut in this bout, but he has won four of his last five fights. Buentello is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated UFC veteran James McSweeney at Legacy FC 22. Buentello has been on a decent roll since his last UFC appearance and his roll will continue when he defeats Dennis to win the gold.
Headlining this card is a Legacy FC Featherweight Title bout as champion Leonard “Bad Boy†Garcia (18-11-1) defends against Shane Howell (13-7-0). Garcia will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Kevin Aguilar at Legacy FC 26. Howell will enter the bout riding a six fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in almost four years. Garcia has been using his Legacy FC run to get another shot in the UFC and he will get that shot when he successfully defends the gold.
