The best way to cap off another big weekend of MMA action will be a World Series Of Fighting card that will be headlined by two championship bouts. That is due to the fact that both the WSOF Welterweight Title and WSOF Bantamweight Title are on the line. Also, Yushin Okami makes his WSOF debut and Josh Burkman faces Tyler Stinson in a key welterweight bout.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division attraction as Ozzy Dugulubgov (5-1-0) competes against Johnny “Johnny Boy†Nunez (4-0-0). Dugulubgov is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, defeating both Chris Wade and Andrew Osborne. Nunez will be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Omega MMA promotion. Dugulubgov has been on a pretty good roll in the WSOF and his roll will continue when he ends the undefeated streak of Nunez.
A pair of welterweights will collide next as Josh “The Peoples Warrior†Burkman (26-10-0) is in action against Tyler “The Evolution†Stinson (27-9-0). Burkman will be competing for the first time since losing a WSOF Welterweight Title fight to Steve Carl at the WSOF VI. Stinson is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Valdir Araujo at the WSOF VIII. Burkman needs a win in a big way if he wants another title shot and he will defeat Stinson to get closer to that shot.
Middleweight division action is up next as Yushin “Thunder†Okami (29-8-0) battles Svetlozar Savov (12-4-0). Okami will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Ronaldo Souza at UFC Fight Night 28. Savov will be competing for the first time in almost two years and he is a veteran of the World Free Fight Challenge promotion. Okami will get a shot at middleweight gold with a victory and he will get that shot when he defeats Savov.
Up next is a bout to crown the first WSOF Bantamweight Champion as Marlon Moraes (12-4-1) takes on Josh “The Finisher†Rettinghouse (10-2-0). Moraes has been undefeated thus far in WSOF competition, last defeating Carson Beebe at WSOF VI. Rettinghouse is also undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Alexis Vila by decision at WSOF VI. Moraes is easily the best bantamweight not in the UFC right now and he will defeat Rettinghouse to capture the gold.
Headlining this card is a bout for the WSOF Welterweight Title as champion Steve Carl (21-3-0) defends against Rousimar “Toquinho†Palhares (15-6-0). Carl will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Josh Burkman at the WSOF VI. Palhares will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a controversial fight against Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 29. Palhares is one of the most dangerous ground fighters in MMA right now and he will tap out Carl to win the belt.
