Welcome to the PWInsiderXtra.com live blog for Dragon Gate USA “Open The Ultimate Gate 2014”, live from the McAlister Auditorium At Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

We will be kicking off the event with the Dragon Gate USA Open The United Gate Championship Match as The Bravado Brothers w/Moose defend the gold against The Premier Athlete Brand (Anthony Nese & Caleb Konley) w/Su Yung & Mr. A...there is man dressed as Fred Flintstone in the crowd and Colt Cabana is on commentary, this may already be the best iPPV of the year...it is always an interesting dynamic when two heel teams face each other...Su Yung is hot, that is all that is necessary on that subject...the fans are siding with the Bravado's in this one...the Bravado's have improved so much since leaving Ring Of Honor...Mr. A is doing Big Bubba Rogers proud...Harlem Bravado's suicide dive was nice...Konley has also gotten better since The Scene disbanded...Bravado's hit some beautiful double team moves on Konley...Nese doing a cartwheel into a super kick on Lance Bravado was cool...Moose taking out Mr. A with a spear was nice...Bravado's hit Nese with the Gentleman's Agreement to keep the belts...excellent match and the Bravado's look better and better with each passing day...Nese gives Mr. A a little post-match brow beating

AR Fox versus Mr. A w/Su Yung is up next...Fox just destroys Mr. A with some amazing suicide dive's to kick off the action...Fox's outside the ring guillotine leg drop will ensure that he will have a hard time walking as he gets older...Mr. A hitting a flying Fox with a spin kick was a great move for the big man to pull off...Fox's multiple jump arm drag looks ridiculous and the person takes it looks even stupider for letting him jump on the ropes that much without countering it at all...Ivelisse comes out to combat the interference of Su Yung was a nice surprise...the fans chanting “f*ck you ref” to the referee for breaking up the catfight was hilarious...Larry Dallas brings out Teddy Hart...Hart brings out a cat and puts the cat on the top turnbuckle, I have absolutely no idea why...Hart takes out Fox with a power bomb back breaker..Hart also destroys Mr. A with a moonsault...the bout somehow is allowed to continue after Hart leaves...Fox catches Mr. A with a nice swanton bomb...Mr. A gets a near fall on Fox after a spine buster...but I still must wonder why this match was allowed to continue...Fox actually hit the 300+ pound Mr. A with lo mein pain for the win...this was a good match, but the fact that Teddy Hart interfered and the match still continued kind of killed it for me...

Biff Busick versus Rich Swann is up next...Busick actually defeated CZW Champion Drew Gulak last night at Evolve 28 in a good match...Swann dancing while the fans sing “All Night Long” was pretty funny...hearing Ron Niemi do commentary brings me back to the days of IPW Hardcore Wrestling...Busick dropping Swann face first on the ring apron edge looked just brutal and Swann looked injured...Busick then cracks Swann with a back body drop that makes him fall face first and how Swann is still breathing is beyond me...Busick killing Swann with yakuza kicks was sweet...Swann's aerial offense is just amazing to watch...Swann catches Busick with a pinning combination after a bunch of reversals for the win...good match and Busick is quickly becoming a breakout star...

The Colony (Green Ant & Fire Ant) get a huge pop coming out for their bout against The Gentleman's Club (Chuck Taylor & Drew Gulak)...this will be the first time that The Gentleman's Club has competed since losing to The Bravado Brothers at Evolve 28...The Colony are good workers, but their gimmick makes them look ridiculous outside of Chikara...Taylor looks disinterested in the match since his duo can no longer challenge for the tag straps...there is a lady in the front row with a pink purse who has the look of a woman who's husband/boyfriend dragged her to the event and she could care less about whats going on in the ring...Gulak is primed to become the next “indy darling”...watching Gulak put up with Taylor's antics makes me wonder if a turn is coming...Fire Ant hit Taylor with a beautiful tornado DDT...Taylor dropping one ant onto the other with a northern lights suplex was s sweet maneuver...Gulak somehow locking both ant in the figure four was the first time I ever saw that...Gulak catches Fire Ant with a choke breaker, which is a move used by former CZW rival and the currently incarcerated Nick Gage...Greent Ant locks Gulak in the Chikara Special for a tap out...very good action from beginning to end in this one...Gulak jumped Taylor after the match and the turn I called earlier comes to fruition...

Low Ki vs. Trent Barretta is our first bout after intermission...it is good to see Ki back in the ring after his short retirement from the sport...the fans chanting “Low Ki is going to kill you” may be a good forewarning for Barretta...Ki's offense is still as brutal as it ever was... Barretta does an amazing job of garnering heel heat and the WWE should have never released him...it seems like the fans are just waiting for Ki to kill Barretta and are not buying into anything else happening... Barretta shocked the crowd and myself when he pinned Ki after a flying knee strike... Barretta may wind up winning gold in Dragon Gate USA in some point after that win...did not see that one coming at all...

The legendary Masato Tanaka is battling Chris Hero in our next match...it is good seeing Tanaka compete again...Hero is quickly becoming the MVP for WWN Live Events this weekend...Tanaka, despite being a lot older now, can still hold his own inside the ring...it did not take long for a “this is awesome” chant to break out...Hero and Tanaka are just killing each other with stiff shots...watching Hero compete makes me wonder why the WWE ever got rid of him...the commentators mentioning how many more tickets this match would sell in Japan is kind of insulting to the fans who bought tickets to see this bout tonight, isn't it?...Hero and Tanaka have thrown more elbow strikes in one bout than most MMA fighters throw in an entire UFC event...Tanaka hits Hero with a nice frog splash...Hero teasing an Awesome Bomb on Tanaka was a nice tribute to that feud in ECW...this is an amazing match and it is worth the replay alone...Tanaka eventually gets the pin on Hero after hitting him with every finisher in his arsenal...amazing match and you should order the replay just for this match...

The main event is up now with Johnny Gargano defending the Dragon Gate USA Open The Freedom Gate Title against Ricochet...this match has been built up for a year and here's hoping it lives up to the hype... Ricochet almost catches Gargano with the benadriller early in the match... Ricochet is easily the biggest American born star in Dragon Gate/Dragon Gate USA right now...Gargano's spear through the ropes in an amazing sight to see after Ricochet's multiple cartwheels backfired on him...Gargano garners a lot of heel heat in Dragon Gate USA and rightfully so...the crowd desperately wants to see Gargano drop the belt...whenever anybody does a dive in this smaller arena, it seems like the majority of the crowd has to move...Dragon Gate USA needs to find a better venue next year...this match is another reason to order the replay of this iPPV...Ricochet landing the cartwheel kick on Gargano was a sight to behold...Gargano hitting Ricochet with a super kick as he attempted a shooting star press was sweet...theses two are just destroying each other with every move imaginable... Ricochet breaking the gargano-escape by throwing him into the turnbuckles was cool... Ricochet's 630 splash is amazing...ref bump and craziness will no doubt ensue... Ricochet kicking out of the illegal belt show popped the crowd huge and “Yes” chants break out... Ricochet finally connects with the benadriller and we have a new champion...this match was downright amazing and packaged with the Tanaka/Hero bout makes this a must order replay or DVD...
