Kicking off the action is a six man tag team tournament opening round match as Chris Hero, Roderick Strong & Masato Tanaka face Ricochet, Rich Swann & AR Fox...this match has awesomeness written all over it...interestingly enough we have both the Evolve Champion in Chris Hero and Dragon Gate USA Open The Freedom Gate Champion Ricochet start things off as they are on opposite teams...Strong and Swann are also the Full Impact Pro Tag Team Champions and they are on opposite teams tonight as well...there is a lot of interesting dynamics in this one...Tanaka may be older now, but he is still as awesome as he was in ECW...the triple suplex spot against Swann, Fox and Ricochet was an awesome move...Swann, Ricochet and Fox have some of the best aerial moves in the sport today...this is essentially a hard hitters versus high fliers encounter...while it is amazing seeing Tanaka in action, he should not be working the opener of any event...Hero assaulting Swann with a ton of knee drops looked as brutal as can be...you could not pay me enough to take a chop from Strong, those are just insanely painful looking...Fox does more dives per minute than any wrestler on earth...its seems like they will build to Hero versus Ricochet as some point...Fox nailing Hero and Tanaka with stereo springboard ace crushers was a cool spot...Hero breaks out the kravat suplex for old times sake...Ricochet hits Tanaka with Dolph Ziggler's zig zag...this match has been downright amazing...there is more action going on in this match than anybody could ever describe in a lifetime...Swann catches Hero with a roll up to get the win...this was a downright amazing match and nothing may top it this weekend, amazing from beginning to end...
Chuck Taylor versus Maxwell Chicago is up next...they finally get to a match after Chicago's did a long skit on the microphone...Chicago is over massively with the crowd...the story is that Taylor is depressed after The Gentleman's Club broke up...Taylor hugging Chicago as the crowd chants “Holy Sh*t†was funny as hell...Chicago's gimmick is that he is a wrestler who only knows about 4 moves...the Premier Athlete Brand jumps Chicago to cause a DQ...Su Yung states that Taylor has no team for the tournament tonight after The Gentleman's Club broke up and he could leave or fight by himelf...he chooses to fight and that leads to...
Chuck Taylor versus The Premier Athlete Brand (Anthony Nese, Caleb Konley & Trent Barretta) w/Su Yung & Mr. A...Taylor starts off the match like a house of fire...it does not take long for everybody to overwhelm Taylor...Su Yung is amazingly hot...Barretta is coming off of a huge win over Low Ki last night...Taylor and Barretta almost gave us hug number two for the evening...Biff Busick hits the ring to team with Taylor...Busick gets the tag and he comes in and cleans house...Taylor's team is still short one person...Taylor and Busick hit Konley with a doomsday device for a near fall...Busick has the oddest sounding scream of all time...Larry Dallas comes out with Teddy Hart and the cat...Hart is apparently the third member of Taylor's team...Hart comes in and he cleans house on The Premier Athlete Brand...Hart's cat is put on the top rope and a chant of “we want p*ssy†breaks out...Hart turns on his teammates and lays them both out for reasons I cannot comprehend...Nese pins Taylor to end one of the oddest matches in recent memory...
The final opening round tournament match is next as Lince Dorado & The Colony (Green Ant & Fire Ant) face The Bravado Brothers (Harlem & Lancealot) & Moose...the Bravado's & Moose coming out to the Beverly Hills Cop theme is awesome...this may be the first in-ring appearance for Moose...the Bravado Brothers are the current Dragon Gate USA tag champs, there is no way they are losing in the opening round...The Colony do not seem as over as they were on Thursday & Friday...Moose is definitely a beast in the ring...we have a Moose, two ants and a cat in the ring (Dorado's character is that of a cat)...the ants taking out everybody with multiple dives was cool...Dorado hitting a huge moonsault to the arena floor was a site to see...Ron Niemi said that the plural of goose was goose, brilliant stuff...Moose took far to much punishment considering he is supposed to be his teams hired muscle...Green Ant made Harlem tap to the Chikara Special and my earlier prediction was wrong...good match, everybody looked good...
We return from intermission to have Shine Champion Ivelisse defend the gold against Mercedes Martinez...having Lenny Leonard provide background on the match since his is the commentator for Shine is a nice touch...Mercedes playing a face now after her actions at Shimmer earlier in the day is just plain odd...it is always good to see women who can actually wrestle do what they do...Mercedes holding Ivelisse up for a suplex for over 30 seconds was an incredible sight...if you are a wrestling fan and don't check out Shine, you are missing something special...the commentators talking about the MMA background for Ivelisse popped me...Martinez's rope assisted neck breaker is a sight to behold... Ivelisse catches Mercedes with a roll up to hold the title...it was a very good match and it proves just how good the women are and can become...
Low Ki versus Johnny Gargano is next an awesomeness cannot be far behind... Gargano is doing a deal where he refuses to acknowledge that he lost the title to Ricochet and he is defending the belt tonight...hopefully Ki will be sticking around longer than just the double shot this weekend...Ki and Gargano can steal the show and thus far, they are...Ki can still easily kick somebodies head off when he wants to...Gargano launching Ki like a lawn dart into the turnbuckles was simply awesome...Gargano's work as a heel in Dragon Gate USA should not be missed...Ki almost caught Gargano with the move that Trent Barretta hit him with to defeat him last night...Ki catches Gargano with the Ki Krusher for the shocking win over the former champ...very good match and Ki still has it...
Our main event is up next as The Premier Athlete Brand (Anthony Nese, Caleb Konley & Trent Barretta) w/Mr. A & Su Yung face AR Fox, Ricochet & Rich Swann and The Colony & Lince Dorado in an elimination bout...this bout begins in the ruckus filled way that one would expect with nine competitors in it...they are doing the deal where a member of each team can be in the ring simultaneously, so it will be three in the ring at the least until a team is eliminated...there will be way to much action for anybody to call tonight...the worldwide wrestling dive record me be broken before the first elimination...Konley pinned Dorado to eliminate The Colny & Lince Dorado...the fans hated that one in a bad way...Barretta is a great heel and the WWE did a disservice to themselves by releasing him...who needs the Japanese wrestlers for the annual six man tag, the American wrestlers are doing a fantastic job on their own...Barretta caught Fox with a running knee to the back of the head to get the win for his team...amazing bout and a great way to close out the WWN Live Experience for 2014...
