Following the injury to Mike Pierce, Alexander Yakovlev has agreed to step in on short notice to fight Damien Maia at UFC Fight Night 42. Yakovlev will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did recently defeat UFC veteran Paul Daley at Legend Part II MMA. Maia will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, dropping fights to Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald. UFC Fight Night 42 takes place on May 31st from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Junior Dos Santos and Stipe Miocic headlining.
