UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER NATIONS FINALE MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 4/14/2014 9:34 PM

Kicking off another extraordinary week of MMA action will be the UFC Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale, which features many great fights. The event itself will be headlined by a big middleweight division bout as Michael Bisping battles Tim Kennedy. Also, the TUF Nations coaches collide and the two TUF Nations Finals bouts will be happening as well.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division affair as Akira Corassani (12-3-0-1NC) competes against Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier (15-3-0). Corassani is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, last defeating Maximo Blanco at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. Poirier has won three of his last four under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Diego Brandao at UFC 168. Poirier is very close to earning a shot at the featherweight strap and he will possibly earn that shot when he defeats Corassani.

The TUF Nations Welterweight Finals is next as Olivier Aubin-Mercier (4-0-0) does battle against Chad Laprise (7-0-0). Aubin-Mercier will be making his official UFC debut in this bout and he has yet to have any of his professional MMA bouts go past the opening round. Laprise will also be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Bellator Fighting Championships. These are two competitors who are known for their ability to finish fights, but it will be Aubin-Mercier coming away with the contract in the end.

A TUF Nations Middleweight Final is next on the card as Elias “The Spartan” Theodorou (8-0-0) battles Sheldon Westcott (8-1-1). Theodorou will be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Score Fighting Series. Westcott will also be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he has previously defeated Elite XC veteran Thomas Denny. This fight has the potential to be the show stealer in this one, but it will be Theodorou coming away with a contract.

Up next is a welterweight division affair as Patrick “The Predator” Cote (19-8-0) takes on Kyle “KO” Noke (20-6-1). Cote has won two of three since returning to the UFC for a second time, defeating both Alessio Sakara and Bobby Voelker. Noke has only won one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Charlie Brenneman at UFC 152. This is an interesting battle of the TUF Coaches, but it will be Cote winning his third straight when its all over.

Headlining this card is a middleweight division contest as Michael “The Count” Bisping (24-5-0) faces Tim Kennedy (17-4-0). Bisping is returning to action after being away for more than a year to contend with a serious eye injury. Kennedy is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated both Roger Gracie and Rafael Natal. Bisping's injury may be gone, but the ring rust could definitely affect him in this one and that will allow Kennedy to pull the upset.
