Kicking off another weekend of MMA action will be another stellar card from the Maximum Fighting Championships. The event is going to be headlined by a pair of title fights in the middleweight and lightweight divisions. There is also a three fight preliminary card as well, with three of the six competitors entering the cage will be making their professional MMA debuts.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division attraction as Justin Lavertu (0-0-0) battles Mike Hays (0-1-0). Lavertu will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he does have some experience competing as an amateur. Hays is returning to the cage after a five year break from competition, with his lone pro fight being a loss to Mark Johnson at Ultimate Cage Combat I. Lavertu is making his professional MMA debut against the perfect opponent, as he will defeat the inactive Hays.
Up next is a lightweight division bout as Cody Moorman (0-0-0) will be taking on Levon Kinley (0-0-0). Moorman will be making his professional MMA debut in this match and he does have some experience competing as an amateur. Kinley will also be making his professional MMA debut in this bout and he has little amateur experience to speak of. It is always a pick 'em type of situation when both fighters are making their pro debuts, but it will be Moorman making a successful debut.
Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as “Untameable†Jon Barnard (2-0-0) faces Corey “The Hatchet†Gower (4-2-0). Barnard will be making his MFC debut in this fight and he previously fought UFC veteran Dustin Kimura in an amateur fight. Gower is currently undefeated in MFC competition, having defeated Daniel Mark by decision at MFC 38. Gower looked impressive in his MFC debut and his sophmore effort will prove to be better when he defeats Barnard.
