Starting off a weekend of MMA action that will include four big MMA events will be Bellator 121, which also begins the promotions 2014 Summer Series. This card will be headlined by a big heavyweight division clash as James Thompson battles Eric Prindle. Also, the light heavyweight tournament continues and UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou makes his promotional debut.
Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight tournament opening round bout as Carlos “Cachorrao†Eduardo (11-3-0) competes against Egidijus Valavicius (26-10-0). Eduardo will be looking to rebound from his first loss in Bellator, having dropped a fight to Rodney Wallace at Bellator 116. Valavicius is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Atanas Djamboz at Bellator 110. Eduardo is coming into the tournament with very little momentum, Valavicius will remain undefeated in Bellator when he gets the win.
Another light heavyweight tournament opening round bout is next as James Austin Heidlage (7-0-0) battles Luiz Philipe “Monstro†Lins (8-0-0). Heidlage will be making his Bellator debut in this fight and he has only had one bout go past the opening round. Lins has already competed once under the Bellator banner, having defeated Travis Clark at Bellator 116. This is a big opportunity for both competitors in this one, but it will be Lins pulling out the victory.
Up next is a light heavyweight division bout as Terry “The Punisher†Davinney (10-7-0) takes on Rameau Thierry “The African Assassin†Sokoudjou (14-12-0). Davinney is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Matt Van Buren at Bellator 82. Sokoudjou has only won two of his last six bouts, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Ryan Jimmo. Sokoudjou is not the same fighter that was dominating people in the past, but he has enough left in the tank to defeat Davinney.
Headlining this card is a heavyweight division bout as Eric “The American Soldier†Prindle (8-5-0-1NC) faces James “The Colossus†Thompson (19-14-0-1NC). Prindle has only won one of his last six bouts, with that lone win coming over Vince Lucero at an Imperio MMA event. Thompson will enter the fight on a four fight winning streak, which includes a win over WWE/TNA wrestler Bobby Lashley. This fight could easily be the worst main event in the history of Bellator, but it will be Thompson leaving with a victory.
