Closing out a weekend of MMA action that will see four different promotions putting on four events will be UFC Fight Night 42. The event will be headlined by a huge lightweight division bout as Ben Henderson faces Rustam Kahbilov. There are four preliminary card fights airing on Fox Spots 1, with Sergio Pettis and Yaotzin Meza taking the featured spot.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division bout as Jake “The Librarian†Lindsey (9-0-0) competes against Jon “Super Saiyan†Tuck (7-1-0). Lindsey will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Victory Fighting Championships promotion. Tuck will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Norman Parke at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Munoz. Tuck is a fighter that has been inconsistent in the UFC thus far and it will be the undefeated Lindsey taking advantage to have a successful UFC debut.
A pair of flyweights will collide next as Scott “Young Guns†Jorgensen (14-9-0) battles Danny “The Gremlin†Martinez (16-5-0). Jorgensen has only won one of his last six under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over John Albert at UFC On Fox V. Martinez is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a fight to Chris Cariaso at UFC 169. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Martinez getting on track with a win.
Up next is a welterweight division attraction as Lance Benoist (6-2-0) takes on “Viscous†Bobby Voelker (24-11-0). Benoist will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and this will be his first fight in almost two years. Voelker is currently winless thus far in his UFC run and he has not achieved a victory in just about three years. How this fight got to be a part of any UFC card is beyond my comprehension, but it will be Voelker getting back into the win column.
Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division bout as Yaotzin Meza (20-9-0) faces Sergio “The Phenom†Pettis (10-1-0). Meza has won just one of three fights under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over John Albert at UFC On Fox VIII. Pettis will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Alex Caceres at UFC On Fox X. Pettis is a fighter that the UFC has high hopes for and he will live up to that hype when he defeats Meza.
