BJORN REBNEY REMOVED AS BELLATOR PRESIDENT; SCOTT COKER NAMED NEW PRESIDENT

By David Tees on 6/18/2014 7:14 PM

The man who created the Bellator Fighting Championships is now ousted from the Viacom owned company as Bjorn Rebney has parted ways with the company. Rebney started Bellator in 2009 on ESPN Deportes, but he leaves the promotion after their huge successful first pay-per-view. There has been no official reason given for his exit from the promotion, Rebney's last event as company president came at Bellator 121 this June.

Replacing Rebney at the helm of the company will be former Strikeforce CEO and UFC employee Scott Coker. Coker took Strikeforce from a kickboxing promotion to one of the top MMA promotions in the world before it was sold to the UFC. Rumors have stated that the tournament format will be on its way out as well, but nothing has been made official as of this writing.
