UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER 19 FINALE FOX SPORTS 1 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/3/2014 10:03 PM

Following what should be an excellent UFC 175 pay-per-view the night before will be a loaded UFC ultimate Fighter 19 Finale card. The event will be headlined by a featherweight division battle as BJ Penn again battles Frankie Edgar. There are four fights on the Fox Sports 1 portion of the preliminary card, with Kevin Lee battling Jesse Ronson in the featured spot.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division bout as Dan “Dragon” Spohn (8-3-0) competes against “The Beast Of The East” Patrick Walsh (4-1-0). Spohn will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he did compete in the first Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament. Walsh will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has only had one career fight going past the first round. This is a second chance opportunity for these TUF 19 alumni, but it will be Spohn getting the key victory.

A pair of lightweights will collide next as Adriano Martins (25-7-0) battles Juan Manuel “Fenix” Puig (11-2-0). Martins will be looking to rebound from his first loss in the UFC, which came to Donald Cerrone at UFC On Fox X. Puig will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will do so on the strength of a six fight winning streak. Martins has faced far better competition when compared to Puig and that past experience will get him the win.

Up next is a bantamweight division affair as Leandro “Brodinho” Issa (11-4-0) takes on Jumabieke “The Wild Wolf” Tuerxun (14-1-0). Issa is currently winless under the UFC banner as he suffered a defeat to Russell Doane at UFC Fight Night: Saffiedine vs. Lim. Tuerxun is also winless under the UFC banner, with his loss coming to Mark Eddiva at UFC Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one and it will be Tuerxun getting the much needed win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division bout as Kevin Lee (7-1-0) faces Jesse “The Body Snatcher” Ronson (13-4-0). Lee is currently winless under the UFC banner, having lost to Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision at UFC 169. Ronson is also winless in his current UFC run, last losing to Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Mousasi. These are two more competitors in a must win spot, but this bout will see Ronson pull out the victory here.
