UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER 19 FINALE MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/4/2014 5:58 PM

Capping off another big weekend of MMA action will be the end of the nineteenth season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter. The UFC Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale is coming to use this Sunday with a featherweight division bout between BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar headlining. Also, the TUF light heavyweight and middleweight finals are on tap, plus top flyweight Dustin Ortiz competes.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division bout as Dustin Ortiz (13-3-0) competes against Justin “Tank” Scoggins (9-0-0). Ortiz has won two of three fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Ray Borg at UFC On Fox 11. Scoggins is coming off the biggest win of his career, as he defeated Will Campuzano by decision at UFC 171. The winner of this bout could find himself near contention for a title shot and it will be Ortiz getting closer to that shot.

A pair of heavyweights will collide next as Guto Inocente (6-2-0) does battle against Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (10-2-0-1NC). Inocente will be making his UFC debut in this bout and this will be his return to competition in well over two years. Lewis is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Jack May by TKO at UFC On Fox 11. Inocente is a very talented competitor, but his time away from the cage is going to hurt him in this one as Lewis stays undefeated in the UFC.

The TUF Middleweight Finals is next as Eddie “Truck” Gordon (6-1-0) is battling Dhiego Lima (9-1-0). Gordon will be making his official UFC debut in this bout and he is a longtime veteran of the Ring Of Combat promotion. Lima will also be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he is the brother of Bellator veteran Douglas Lima. Lima is easily the most explosive fighter in the entire TUF 19 cast and he will dominate Gordon to win the tournament.

Up next is the TUF Light Heavyweight Finals as Corey “Beastin 25/8” Anderson (2-0-0) takes on Matt “Gutter” Van Buren (6-2-0). Anderson will be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight go past the opening round. Van Buren will also be making his official UFC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Bellator promotion. Van Buren has a huge experience edge when compared to Anderson and that experience will get him the victory.

Headlining this card is a featherweight division attraction as Frankie “The Answer” Edgar (16-4-1) faces BJ “The Prodigy” Penn (16-9-2). Edgar has only won one of his last four fights under the UFC banner and he is a former UFC Lightweight Champion. Penn will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he has already suffered defeats to Edgar twice before. Penn has slowed down even more since his last loss to Edgar a few years back and Edgar will win for a third time over Penn.
