Capping off another big week of MMA action will be the second of two cards this week from the Ultimate Fighting Championships. This particular event will be headlined by a key featherweight division contest as Conor McGregor battles Diego Brandao. There are six total fights on the preliminary card, featuring a key flyweight division battle between Phil Harris and Neil Seery.
Kicking off the action is a flyweight division bout as Patrick “The Hooligan†Holohan (9-0-1) competes against Josh “The Gremlin†Sampo (11-3-0). Holohan will be making his UFC debut in this fight and this will be his return to action after a two year layoff. Sampo will be looking to rebound from his first loss in the UFC, which came to Zach Makovsky at UFC 170. The long layoff is going to hurt Holohan in his UFC debut and it will be Sampo pulling out the victory.
The light heavyweight division will be featured next as Cody “Donnybrook†Donovan (8-4-0) does battle against Nikita “Al Capone†Krylov (16-4-0). Donovan has only won one of three bouts under the UFC banner and he will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak. Krylov has been winless since dropping to the light heavyweight division, having lost to Ovince St. Preux at UFC 171. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be the better striker in Nikita Krylov getting the much needed win.
A pair of middleweights will be colliding next as Trevor “Hot Sauce†Smith (11-5-0) is in action against Tor “The Hammer†Troeng (16-5-1). Smith has only won just one of his last four bouts, with that lone win coming over Brian Houston at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou. Troeng will be looking to rebound from his first loss in the UFC, which came to Rafael Natal at UFC Fight Night: Teixeira vs. Bader. Smith has not been able to fight his footing in the UFC after coming over from Strikeforce and it will get worse for his am Troeng notches his second UFC victory.
Welterweights will be entering the octagon next as Mike King (5-0-0) battles Cathal “The Punisher†Pendred (13-2-1). King will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has only had once career bout go past the opening round. Pendred will be making his official UFC debut in this bout and he was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 19. Pendred may have stumbled on the reality show, but he will win where it counts by defeating King to make a successful UFC debut.
Up next is a flyweight division attraction as Phil “Billy†Harris (22-11-0-2NC) takes on Neil “2 Tap†Seery (13-10-0). Harris has only won one of four during his first UFC run and he is returning to the promotion after initially signing a deal with Cage Warriors. Seery is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a fight to Brad Pickett at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa. This is a must win bout for both competitors in this one, but it will be Harris getting that much needed win.
Headlining this portion of the card is a middleweight division bout as Chris Dempsey (10-1-0) faces Ilir “The Sledgehammer†Latifi (8-3-0-1NC). Dempsey will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Gladiators Of The Cage promotion. Latifi will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Cyrille Diabate at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa. Latifi has faced far superior competition when compared to Dempsey and that experience will get him another victory.
