TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 29 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/19/2014 9:45 AM

This is the last major weekend of MMA events this summer, with five total events taking place this coming weekend. The second of three events on Friday alone will be Titan Fighting Championships 29, with Mike Ricci facing George Sotiropoulos in the main event. There are four fights on the preliminary card, which will feature plenty of MMA prospects stepping into the cage.

Kicking off the action is a welterweight division affair as Robert “The Beast” Washington (17-8-0-1NC) competes against Blaine Thomas (5-1-0). Washington will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he will do so while riding a two fight winning streak. Thomas will also be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Wild Bills Fight Night promotion. Washington has a huge experience edge when compared to Thomas and that experience will gain him the win.

A pair of middleweights will collide next as Steve Montgomery (4-1-0) battles Rakim Cleveland (9-5-0). Montgomery will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight, but he does hold a victory over UFC veteran Colton Smith. Cleveland will also be making his Titan FC debut in this bout, but he has fought UFC veterans Derrick Lewis and Bubba Bush. Both of these competitors have fought some top notch talent, but it will be Cleveland walking away with the win.

Up next is a welterweight division attraction as Lamar “Lion King” Reed (4-2-0) battles Alex “First Blood” Rojas (2-4-0). Reed will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he has yet to have a fight go to the judge's scorecard. Rojas will also be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Tachi Palace Fights promotion. Rojas is vastly outmatched when compared to Reed and Reed will be walking way with the easy victory.

Headlining this card is a lightweight division bout as Luciano “Macarrao” Dos Santos (9-6-0) faces Jeremy Severn (1-0-0). Dos Santos will be returning to action after a two year layoff, but he has previously fought UFC veteran Diego Nunes. Severn will be returning to action after a year long absence, but he did defeat Aaron Osbourne at Xtreme Fighting Championships 22. The fact that this fight got made is a shame on MMA as a whole, but it will be Dos Santos ending Severn's undefeated streak.
