In a weekend overloaded with MMA action, it is good to see the Titan Fighting Championships still putting on a card that was obliterated by injuries. This event will be headlined by a lightweight division bout as Mike Ricci competes against George Sotiropoulos. Also, a featherweight title tournament semi-final bout is set and Dustin Jacoby returns after a two years absence.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division affair as Mike Bruno (11-6-0) competes against D'Juan “The Predator†Owens (10-7-1). Bruno will be making his Titan FC debut in this bout and he has only competed once in the last two years. Owens is coming off of the biggest win of his career, which came over UFC veteran Dustin Pague at The Victorium Episode III. Owens is riding a wave of momentum after defeating a UFC veteran and he will ride the wave of momentum to defeat Bruno in this one.
A pair of welterweights will collide next as Micah “Maverick†Miller (19-6-0-1NC) does battle against Bristol Marunde (13-9-0). Miller will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he once competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter. Marunde has been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Viscardi Andrade at UFC 163. Miller usually competes as a featherweight and he will be vastly underweight when compared to Marunde and that unfair edge will get Marunde the win.
More welterweight action is happening next as Mike “The Greek†Bronzoulis (15-7-1) is in action against Keith Johnson (7-2-0). Bronzoulis will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight, but he did make it to the finals of the Bellator MMA “Fight Master†reality show. Johnson will be returning to action after a two year absence, but he does hold a win over WWE Tough Enough alumni Jeremiah Riggs. Bronzoulis has always been a fighter on the verge of breaking through to the next level and he will finally break through when he defeats Johnson.
The Titan FC Featherweight Title Tournament Semi-Final Round bout is next as Kurt Holobaugh (10-2-0) battles Lloyd “Cupcake†Woodard (13-4-0). Holobaugh is currently undefeated in Titan FC competition, having defeated Eric Marriott at Titan FC 27. Woodard has only won just one of his last four fights, with that lone win coming over Jerome Jones at King Of The Cage: Unleashed. Woodard has stumbled a lot since his time in Bellator MMA and it will be the UFC veteran in Holobaugh advancing to the finals.
Up next is a light heavyweight division attraction as Lucas Lopes (29-17-0) takes on Dustin Jacoby (8-3-0). Lopes will be making his Titan FC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Jacoby will be returning to action after a two year absence, but he was competing in Glory Kickboxing in between MMA bouts. Jacoby was once considered a rising star in the MMA world, but Lopes will spoil his return with a victory.
Headlining this card is a lightweight division bout as Mike “The Martian†Ricci (9-4-0) faces George Sotiropoulos (14-6-0). Ricci is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in Titan FC, having defeated Jorge Gurgel at Titan FC 27. Sotiropoulos will be fighting for the first time since his UFC release and he has not won a fight in almost four years. Ricci has seen a career resurgence since coming to Titan FC and his rise will continue when he hands Sotiropoulos another defeat.
