With three big MMA events taking place on Friday Night, it is interesting to think that the only two MMA events on Saturday Night come from the UFC. The first of those two events is UFC Fight Night 48, which will be headlined by a bout between Cung Le and Michael Bisping. There are a total of six fights on the preliminary card, with UFC veteran Roland Delorme taking part in the proceedings.
Kicking off the action is a women's bantamweight division bout as Milana Dudieva (10-3-0) competes against Elizabeth Phillips (4-2-0). Dudieva will be making her UFC debut in this fight and she does hold a win over UFC veteran Sheila Gaff. Phillips is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered a loss to Valerie Letourneau at UFC 174. Phillips may have the UFC experience edge, but Dudieva is a far better fighter and that will show when she defeats Phillips.
A pair of bantamweights will be battling next as Royston Wee (3-0-0) does battle against Zhuikui Yao (1-1-0). Wee has already competed once under the UFC banner, having defeated Dave Galera at UFC Fight Night: Saffiedine vs. Lim. Yao will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has not competed in well over a full year. This fight should be nowhere near any UFC card, but it will still be Wee staying undefeated in the end.
The welterweight division will be featured next as Anying “Smiley†Yang (2-0-0) is in action against Colby Covington (5-0-0). Wang is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Albert Cheng at UFC Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway. Covington will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Fight Time MMA promotion. Yang may have the home field advantage in this one, but Covington will shock the hometown hero when he gets the win.
More bantamweight division action is happening next as “Stunning†Roland Delorme (9-3-0-1NC) battles Yuta “Ulka†Sasaki (17-1-2). Delorme will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, losing to both Alex Caceres and Michinori Tanaka. Sasaki will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he does so while riding a ten fight winning streak. Delorme may be known more by casual UFC fans, but Sasaki will be getting a bigger following when he defeats the UFC veteran.
Up next is a welterweight division attraction as Shinsho “Animal†Anzai (8-1-0) takes on Alberto Mina (10-0-0). Anzai will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Pancrase promotion. Mina will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has yet to see a fight go to the judge's scorecard. This is a huge opportunity for both competitors in this one, but it will be Mina walking away with the victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division bout as Danny “The Cheesecake Assassin†Mitchell (14-5-1) faces Wang “The Fire Kylin†Sai (6-5-1). Mitchell is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Igor Araujo at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa. Sai is also winless under the UFC umbrella, having lost a bout to Lipeng Zhang at UFC Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway. Mitchell may have stumbled in his UFC debut, but he is going to rebound in a positive way when he defeats Sai.
