This is a super sized weekend of MMA action and the people at Bellator MMA are giving us a great card to check out. Bellator 124 is going to be headlined by a title bout as light heavyweight champion Emanuel Newton defends against UFC veteran Joey Beltran. There are seven fights on the preliminary card, with plenty of top MMA prospects stepping into the cage.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division affair as Ruben Baraiac (5-1-0) competes against Justin “Guitar Hero†Jaynes (5-2-0). Baraiac will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Cody Stamann at Triple X Cagefighting IV. Jaynes is coming off of a one fight appearance in the World Series Of Fighting, where he lost to Jimmy Spicuzza at the WSOF X. These are two competitors who are looking to rebound from untimely losses, but it will be Jaynes leaving with the win.
A pair of welterweights will collide next as Arian “The Eagle†Hadribaej (1-0-0) does battle against Michael Hamida (3-0-0). Hadribaej made his professional MMA debut earlier this year with a win over Aaron Cook at Triple X Cagefighting IV. Hamida has spent his entire career until this point in Total Warrior Combat promotion, with none of his fights getting out of the opening round. Hamida has been dominating people since turning pro last last and his streak of domination will continue as he defeats Hadribaej.
Bantamweight division action is happening next as Michael Hernandez (6-3-0) is in action against Thomas “The Die Hard Kid†Vasquez (7-1-0). Hernandez has already competed three times in 2014, having won two of those three previous contests. Vasquez is currently winless in Bellator MMA competition, having dropped a fight to Marcos Galvao at Bellator 118. Vasquez was on quite the roll before losing in his Bellator MMA debut, but he will rebound to defeat Hernandez.
Heavyweights will be entering the cage next as Adrian “A-Train†Henderson (5-0-0) dukes it out with LeRoy Johnson (2-0-0). Henderson will be making his Bellator MMA debut on this fight, having previously spent his entire career in the Conflict MMA promotion. Johnson will also be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight, despite making his pro MMA debut less than six months ago. Henderson has fought far better competition when compared to Johnson and that experience will garner him a victory.
More heavyweight division action is next as Shamir “Bam Bam†Garcia (6-0-0) battles Ben “The Hunter†Reiter (14-0-1). Garcia will be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and he is the current Total Warrior Combat Heavyweight Champion. Reiter will also be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and his undefeated streak has lasted over three years. This fight should have been of the main card when you consider the level of talent involved, but it will be Reiter staying undefeated in the end.
Up next is a bantamweight division contest as Cortez Phelia (1-1-0) takes on Eric “The Ram†Ramirez (1-0-0). Phelia will be looking to rebound from his first pro MMA defeat, which came to Brian Hall at Bellator 120. Ramirez made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at Triple X Cagefighting III, defeating Ryan Brettingham. These are two fighters who have long careers ahead of them, but we will see Ramirez stay undefeated in this one.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division bout as Sabah “The Punisher†Homasi (7-4-0) faces Ben “Bad News†Lagman (6-5-0). Homasi is currently winless in Bellator MMA competition, losing to both Ricky Legere Jr. and Frank Carillo. Lagman will enter the fight riding a four fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in over four years. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one and it will be Homasi getting that much needed win.
