WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING 13 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/12/2014 11:44 PM

There are six big MMA events taking place this weekend and everything will be capped of with the World Series Of Fighting 13. The event will be headlined by a catchweight bout as WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes faces Cody Bollinger. There are a total of seven fights on the preliminary card and they will be featuring some top MMA prospects in action.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division affair as Sidemar “Sideco” Honorio (8-5-0) competes against Matthew “SMG” Lozano (4-2-0). Honorio is currently winless in WSOF competition and he has not achieved a victory in over two years. Lozano will be making his WSOF debut in this fight, but he is a veteran of the Legacy Fighting Championships and Bellator MMA. Honorio has been on a pretty bad skid for a little while now and that skid will continue as Lozano makes a successful promotional debut.

A pair of lightweights will clash next as Luciano Cristovam (0-1-0) is in action against Mike “Popezilla” Pope (3-2-0). Cristovam is returning to action after a two year layoff and his lone fight was a loss to Bradley Desir at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 13. Pope will be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he has only seen one of his career fights go to a decision. Cristovam has no business being anywhere near this card and that will be shown when Pope cruises by him to get the win.

More lightweight action is happening next as Jonathan Hughes (2-4-0) dukes it out with Daisuke Yamaji (2-0-0). Hughes will enter the bout riding a three fight losing streak and this fight will be his fourth fight this year. Yamaji will be returning to action after a four year layoff and none of his MMA bouts have gone to the judge's scorecard. This bout has no business being on this card either, but it will be the more active Hughes getting the victory.

Another lightweight division bout is happening next as Nick “Nyquil” Browne (1-0-0) clashes with Sidney Outlaw (3-0-0). Browne made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at Pinnacle MMA VII, defeating Jeff Denz. Outlaw is coming off of an appearance at Bellator MMA, where he defeated Mike Bannon at Bellator 118. Outlaw has already seen some time on the big stage and that experience will help him stay undefeated in the end.

Welterweight division action is next as Matt Secor (4-2-0) battles Brett “Showtime” Shoenfelt (7-5-0-1NC). Secor will be making his WSOF debut in this fight, but he has previously fought UFC veteran Nordine Taleb. Shoenfelt will also be making his WSOF debut in this bout and he just competed a month ago at a Gladiators Of The Cage event. Secor has fought far better competition when compared to Shoenfelt and that experience will earn him the win on the big stage.

Up next is a women's flyweight division bout as Katlyn Chookagian (1-0-0) takes on Brigitte Narcise (0-1-0). Chookagian made her professional debut earlier this year at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 37, defeating Rebecca Heintzman. Narcise also made her professional MMA debut earlier this year, but she suffered a defeat to Kaline Medeiros at CES MMA 24. These are two competitors who are not yet ready for the bigger stages of MMA, but it will be Chookagian staying undefeated in the end.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division attraction as Tenyeh “Skinnyman” Dixon (11-10-0) faces Emmanuel Walo (6-1-1). Dixon will be making his WSOF debut in this fight, but he has fought UFC veterans Dan Miller and George Sullivan. Walo will also be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he has spent the majority of his career in the Cage Fury Fighting Championships promotion. Dixon may have the experience edge, but Walo is the far better fighter and that will be shown as he wins his WSOF debut.
