TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 30 CBSSPORTS.COM PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/24/2014 6:14 PM

Ever since debuting on CBS Sports earlier this year, the Titan Fighting Championships events have been events worth checking out. Nothing has changed with Titan Fighting Championships 30, featuring Jason Brilz battling Vinny Magalhaes for the vacant light heavyweight title. There are a total of four fights on the CBSSports.com portion of the preliminary card, with the brother of a UFC veteran in action.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division affair as Gabriel Carrillo (0-0-0) competes against Adam “Twilight” Nijem (1-0-0). Carrillo will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he has no amateur experience to speak of. Nijem made his professional MMA debut earlier this year and he is the brother of UFC veteran Ramsey Nijem. Adam competes like his brother does in the UFC and it will not be long until he arrives in the big shows, Nijem stays undefeated in the end.

A pair of bantamweights will collide next as Xavier Siller (5-1-0) battles Cody “Wolverine” Williams (7-5-0). Siller competed less than a month ago at 24/7 Entertainment MMA 17, defeating Angel Huerta by first round submission. Williams has won three of his last four bouts and he has previously competed against UFC veteran Ryan Benoit. Williams has fought far better competition when compared to Siller and that experience will carry him to a win.

Up next is a featherweight division attraction as Nick “The Ghost” Gonzalez (18-12-0-1NC) takes on Warren Stewart (11-19-0). Gonzalez has only won just one of his last four fights, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Leonard Garcia. Stewart will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in nearly three years. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be Gonzalez getting the much needed win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division bout as EJ “The Pretty Boy” Brooks (7-3-0) faces Todd “Maniac” Moore (16-6-0). Brooks will enter the bout riding a three fight losing streak, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Johnny Case. Moore has won two of his last three bouts, but he is coming off of a loss to Bellator MMA veteran Ricardo Tirloni. Moore is a fighter who should be fighting on the bigger shows at this stage of his career and he will get closer to that stage when he defeats Brooks.
