There are a total of four MMA events this weekend, but it will be the UFC running unopposed on Saturday Night as UFC 178 hits pay-per-view. The event is going to be headlined by a UFC Flyweight Title bout as Demetrious Johnson defends against Chris Cariaso. There are two fights on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card, with longtime UFC mainstay Manny Gamburyan in action.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division bout as Manny “The Anvil†Gamburyan (13-8-0-1NC) battles Cody “The Renegade†Gibson (12-4-0). Gamburyan has only won two of six fights during his second UFC run and he has not won a fight in well over a year. Gibson will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Johnny Bedford at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens. Gamburyan has been on the downside of his career for a while now and that fall will continue as Gibson picks up the win.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division affair as Kevin “The Motown Phenom†Lee (8-1-0) faces Jon “Super Saiyan†Tuck (8-1-0). Lee will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Jesse Ronson at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale. Tuck has won two of three fights during his time in the UFC, most notably defeating Tiequan Zhang at UFC On Fuel TV VI. This fight deserves a better position on the card, but it will be Tuck leaving with the win either way in this one.
