BELLATOR 127 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/29/2014 9:31 PM

The non-tournament layout has been beneficial to Bellator MMA this season and this weekend’s Bellator 127 card will be no different. Bellator 127 will be headlined by a huge featherweight division bout as Daniel Straus faces Justin Wilcox. Also, there will be several UFC veterans in Karo Parisyan, Rob Emerson and Kendall Grove stepping into the cage.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division affair as Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove (20-14-0-1NC) competes against Christian “Tonton” M’Pumbu (18-6-1). Grove will be looking to rebound from his first Bellator MMA defeat, which came to Brett Cooper at Bellator 114. M’Pumbu has not won a fight in well over three years and he is a former Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Champion. This is a must win situation for both fighters involved in this one, but M’Pumbu will continue to stumble as Grove gets the win.

A pair of bantamweights will collide next as Rob “The Saint” Emerson (17-10-0) battles Rafael “Marcego” Silva (21-4-0). Emerson is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, most notably defeating Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 116. Silva will be fighting for the first time since losing a Bellator Interim Bantamweight Title fight to Joe Warren at Bellator 118. Silva will get back into title contention in the near future and that climb back will begin as he defeats Emerson in this one.

Up next is a welterweight division attraction as Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez (21-13-0) takes on Karo “The Heat” Parisyan (24-10-0-1NC). Gonzalez is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, having defeated Karl Amoussou at Bellator 122. Parisyan has won two of three fights under the Bellator MMA banner, last defeating fellow UFC veteran Phil Baroni at Bellator 122. Parisyan has seen a career resurgence since coming to Bellator MMA and that resurgence will continue as he defeats Gonzalez.

Headlining this card is a featherweight division bout as Daniel Straus (22-5-0) faces Justin “The Silverback” Wilcox (14-6-0-1NC). Straus will be competing for the first time since losing his Bellator Featherweight Title to Pat Curran at Bellator 112. Wilcox made it to the finals of the season nine featherweight tournament, losing to Patricio Freire in those finals. The winner of this fight could be in line for a featherweight title shot and it will be Straus outwrestling Wilcox to get that shot.
