Capping off another big weekend of MMA action will be the World Series Of Fighting’s return to the country of Canada. The event will be headlined by the WSOF debut of Jake Shields, as he faces WSOF Canada Welterweight Champion Ryan Ford in a non-title bout. There are a total of five fights on the preliminary card, with UFC veteran Tim Hague taking the featured spot.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division affair as Roger “RGA†Alves (1-1-0) competes against David Swanson (2-0-0). Alves is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Jemark Brady at the WSOF Canada I. Swanson will be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he has yet to see a fight go to the judge’s scorecards. Alves may have picked up his first WSOF win a few months back, but he will be picking up his first WSOF loss as Swanson stays undefeated in the end.
A pair of middleweights will clash next as Matt “The Riotmaker†Baker (10-7-0) is in action against Cody “Genghis†Krahn (15-9-0). Baker has lost all three of his previous WSOF bouts, which includes a loss to UFC veteran Tim Hague at the WSOF Canada I. Krahn fought less than a month ago at Prestige Fighting Championships VI, defeating Mike Kent by submission. Baker has not had much success during his time in the WSOF and that unlucky streak will be continuing as Krahn gets the win.
The welterweight division will be featured next as Marcus “The Loudmouth Assassin†Hicks (19-23-0) battles Michael “The Messenger†Hill (7-2-0). Hicks will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes a win over Markhaile Wedderburn at the WSOF Canada II. Hill is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, which includes wins over Richard Arsenault and Ryan Dickson. Hicks is easily the most experienced fighters that Hill has fought, but Hill will overcome that disadvantage to win his third straight in the WSOF.
Up next is a featherweight division attraction as Hakeem “Ice†Dawodu (2-0-0) takes on Mike Malott (4-0-0). Dawodu has spent his entire professional MMA career in the WSOF, last defeating Jake MacDonald at the WSOF Canada II. Malott will be making his WSOF debut in this bout and he has yet to see one of his bouts go past the opening round. This fight should easily be the best bout on the preliminary card, but it will be Malott making a successful WSOF debut.
Headlining this portion of the card is a heavyweight division bout as Tim “The Thrashing Machine†Hague (18-9-0) faces Craig “Wardog†Hudson (4-4-0). Hague is a UFC veteran who is undefeated in WSOF competition, most notably defeating Lee Mein at the WSOF Canada I. Hudson has already fought Hague before, suffering a defeat to the UFC veteran at King Of The Cage: Unified. Hague is a far better fighter than Hudson and that will be proven again on Saturday Night when he gets a second win over him.
