WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING 14 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/10/2014 8:05 AM

There are a total of three big MMA events this weekend and capping off all of the action will be the World Series Of Fighting 14. The event will be headlined by Jake Shields WSOF debut as he faces WSOF Canada Welterweight Champion Ryan Ford in a non-title bout. Also, Derrick Mehmen faces Smealinho Rama to crown the inaugural WSOF Heavyweight Champion and UFC veteran Jared Hamman makes his WSOF debut.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division attraction as Jared “The Messenger” Hamman (13-6-0) competes against Luke Harris (10-2-0-1NC). Hamman is a UFC veteran who will be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he has not won a fight in over three years. Harris will also be making his WSOF debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Maximum Fighting Championships. Hamman has not been near top form in a long time now and his woes will continue as Harris defeats the UFC veteran.

A pair of featherweights will collide next as Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki (20-5-1-1NC) battles Luis Huete (6-1-0). Horodecki has won two of his last three fights and he is a four fight veteran of the Bellator MMA promotion. Huete will be making his WSOF debut as well in this fight and he has yet to see a fight go past the second round. Horodecki has long been one of the more underrated fighters to come out of Canada and he will show why when he defeats Huete.

Up next is a bout for the vacant WSOF Heavyweight Title as Derrick “The Caveman” Mehmen (18-5-0) takes on Smealinho “The Prince” Rama (8-1-0). Mehmen is currently undefeated under the WSOF banner, most notably defeating Rolles Gracie at the WSOF V. Rama is currently undefeated in WSOF competition and he holds a win over UFC veteran Tim Hague. These are easily the two best heavyweights in the WSOF right now, but it will be Mehmen leaving with the gold.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division affair as Jake Shields (29-7-1-1NC) faces Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (22-4-0). Shields is a UFC veteran who is making his WSOF debut and he is a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Ford is the current WSOF Canada Welterweight Champion and he enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak. Ford is one of the most underrated fighters in all of MMA right now and he will be getting more attention when he spoils the WSOF debut of Shields.
