Capping off a big Friday of MMA action will be what most people will consider to be the weakest Bellator MMA line up in a long time. The event will be headlined by a welterweight division bout as Josh Neer returns to Bellator MMA to fight Paul Bradley. There will be seven fights on the Bellator 129 Preliminary Card, including the return of women’s action to the promotion.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division bout as Marcos Marquez (5-3-0) competes against Victor Moreno (33-21-0). Marquez has won four of his last five fights and he has previously competed against UFC veteran Abel Trujillo. Moreno has only won just one of his last four bouts, with one of those losses coming to Anthony Smith at Bellator 117. Moreno has a huge experience edge when compared to Marquez and that experience will gain him the victory.
A pair of middleweights will be colliding next as Brian Green (31-19-0) is in action against Anthony “Lionheart†Smith (18-11-0). Green will be returning to Bellator MMA after a four year absence, winning eleven fights in between appearances. Smith is a veteran of UFC competition and he is coming off of a win over Victor Moreno at Bellator 117. Smith has not looked very good since his UFC exit and his stumbles will continue as Green makes a successful Bellator return.
Women’s catchweight division action is next as Jozette “The #1 Headbusta†Cotton (4-0-0) does battle against Holly “Lil†Bear†Larson (0-0-0). Cotton will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she has only seen one of four fights go to a decision. Lawson will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she has no amateur experience to speak of. This is the first women’s bout in Bellator MMA since Scott Coker took over and it will be Cotton staying undefeated in the end.
The lightweight division will be featured next as Martin “Smash†Brown (7-2-0) dukes it out with Bryan Corley (2-1-0). Brown enters this bout riding a five fight winning streak, last defeating Jared Downing by decision at Bellator 117. Corley has only competed once in the last five years, which was a win over Josh Arocho at Dynasty Combat Sports X. Corley’s lack of activity in recent years is going to hurt him in this one as Brown walks away with the victory.
More lightweight division action is happening next as Michael McBride (6-1-0) battles Kevin Morris (4-3-0). McBride will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he is a veteran of the Midwest Cage Championships. Morris has only won just one of his last four fights, with that lone victory coming over Travis Nath at King Of The Cage: Under Fire. Morris is on a bad losing streak in recent fights and McBride will continue his winning ways as he defeats Morris.
Up next is a lightweight division bout as Tim “Timmy B†Bazer (14-16-0) will be taking on Eric Howser (6-2-0). Bazer enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in just about fifteen months. Howser will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in just about two years. Bazer is easily the most experienced fighter that Howser has ever faced and Howser will overcome that disadvantage to get the win.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division affair as John DeVall (8-6-0) faces Chris “Kid Khaos†Lane (11-12-0). DeVall will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he is a veteran of the Iowa Challenge promotion. Lane will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he has only seen two career fights go to a decision. These are two fighters who are in a must win situation and it will be DeVall getting that crucial victory.
