BELLATOR 129 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/17/2014 8:19 AM

While the card may be the weakest Bellator MMA has put on in a long time, there are still some fights worth checking out. The event will be headlined by a welterweight division attraction as Josh Neer steps into the cage against Paul Bradley. Also, Houston Alexander battles Virgil Zwicker and Joe Vedepo makes his return to the main card for Bellator MMA.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division attraction as “Relentless” Davin Clark (5-1-2) competes against Joe “The Doctor” Vedepo (16-8-0). Clark will be returning to action after a two year layoff and he does enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak. Vedepo is a UFC veteran who has won three of five in Bellator MMA, last defeating Cortez Coleman at Bellator 121. Clark’s lack of cage time is going to hurt him in this one as Vedepo gets his third straight win in Bellator MMA.

A pair of welterweights will collide next as Andre “Chatuba” Santos (36-9-0) battles James “Intensity” Terry (14-7-0). Santos will be making his Bellator MMA debut on a five fight winning streak, which includes a win over UFC veteran Chad Reiner. Terry has won three of his last four fights and he is a longtime veteran of the Strikeforce promotion. Santos is a highly touted prospect who is making his Bellator MMA debut and he will defeat Terry to make a successful debut.

Up next is a heavyweight division bout as Houston “The Assassin” Alexander (16-10-0-2NC) takes on Virgil “Rezdog” Zwicker (12-4-0). Alexander is a UFC veteran who will be looking to build off the momentum of his first Bellator MMA win, which came over Matt Uhde at Bellator 117. Zwicker is currently winless under the Bellator MMA banner, having suffered a defeat to Linton Vassell at Bellator 122. Zwicker may be a late replacement fighter in this one, but he will pull the upset as he defeats Alexander in this one.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division bout as Paul “The Gentleman” Bradley (21-6-0-1NC) faces Josh “The Dentist” Neer (36-13-1). Bradley has won three of five fights since his UFC release, which includes a win over Karl Amoussou at Bellator 104. Neer has been undefeated since his UFC release and he is returning to Bellator MMA after a four year absence. These are two longtime MMA veterans who are looking for one more shot at the big time and it will be Neer taking advantage of this opportunity to return to the big show.
