CAGE WARRIORS 73 MAIN CARD #1 PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/29/2014 5:29 PM

Cage Warriors have put on some huge cards in the past, but for the second time in 2014, the promotion has a card so big that two separate main cards are needed. The first main event of the two main cards will see a battle for the vacant featherweight title as Alex Enlund faces Nad Narimani. Also, longtime MMA veteran Ronnie Mann competes and plenty of top international prospects enter the cage.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division affair as “Thee” Mark Connor (8-10-1) competes against Ian Malone (3-2-0). Connor has won two of four fights in Cage Warriors, but he does enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak. Malone has won two of his last three bouts and he will be returning to action after a three year layoff. Connor may enter this fight with a losing record, but he is more active when compared to Malone and that work rate will help him get the win.

The lightweight division will be featured next as Ellis Hampson (3-1-0-1NC) does battle against Lewis Monarch (3-0-0). Hampson will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Azi Thomas at Cage Warriors 68. Monarch will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this bout and he has yet to see a fight go past the opening round. These are two exciting prospects in Cage Warriors right now, but it will be Monarch staying undefeated in the end.

A pair of featherweights will collide next as Liam “Bad Intentions” James (8-6-0) is in action against Dean Trueman (4-2-0). James has won three of six fights under the Cage Warriors banner and he has previously fought UFC veteran Robert Whiteford. Trueman will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Fight UK MMA promotion. James is one of the better veterans in Cage Warriors right now and he will win his fourth fight in the promotion as he defeats Trueman.

Middleweight division action is happening next as Leeroy Barnes (12-14-0-1NC) battles Kyle Redfearn (6-5-0). Barnes will enter the fight riding a four fight losing streak, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Che Mills. Redfearn has only won just one of his last four bouts and he will be returning to action after a year-plus layoff. This fight should not be a part of the main card in any way, but it will be Barnes ending his losing streak by getting the victory.

Up next is a bantamweight division attraction as Moktar “Le Kabyle” Benkaci (11-4-0-1NC) takes on Ronnie “Iron Mann” Mann (23-7-1). Benkaci will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and he will be returning to Cage Warriors after a two year absence. Mann has won two of three fights in his Cage Warriors run and he is a longtime veteran of Bellator MMA. Mann is one of the better bantamweights in Cage Warriors right now and he will get a title shot after defeating Benkaci.

Headlining this main card is a bout for the vacant Cage Warriors Featherweight Title as Alex Enlund (10-2-0-1NC) faces Nad Narimani (7-1-0). Enlund has won four of five fights in Cage Warriors and he has only seen one career fight go past the first round. Narimani has won two of three under the Cage Warriors banner, last defeating Benjamin Brander at Cage Warriors 64. These are the two best fighters to be fighting for the vacant featherweight title, but it will be Enlund leaving with the gold.
