There will be a total of five MMA events taking place this weekend and everything kicks off with a rare Thursday Night card from Tachi Palace Fights. The events will be headlined by a pair of title fights, with TPF Welterweight Champion Ricky Legere Jr. defending against Max Griffin taking the featured spot. Also, longtime TPF veteran Isaac DeJesus competes and plenty of the California area’s best MMA prospects are competing.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division bout as Anthony Torres (0-0-0) does battle against Mike Tubera (0-0-0). Torres will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he did win eight fights as an amateur fighter. Tubera will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, winning three of four fights as an amateur. This is a great opportunity for two debuting fighters to make an impact, but it will be Torres making a successful pro debut.
The welterweight division will be featured next as Alberto Arreola (1-0-0) does battle against Oscar “Superman†Martinez (5-4-0). Arreola made his professional MMA debut at TPF 20, defeating Victor Tubera by second round submission. Martinez has won two of his last three bouts and he will be returning after being out of the cage for nearly two years. The long layoff is going to negatively affect Martinez in this one as Arreola picks up the win to stay undefeated.
Our first lightweight division bout is next as Evan “Pitbull†Solorio (0-0-0) is in action against Alex Barajas (1-2-0). Solorio will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, having won five fights as an amateur competitor. Barajas will be looking to build on the momentum of his first pro MMA win, which came over Carlos Becarra at The Warriors Cage 20. Solorio is not facing the biggest threat in his pro debut and he will be picking up the win in his pro MMA debut.
Another lightweight division attraction is next as Art Hernandez (0-0-0) dukes it out with Joshua LaGrange (2-5-0). Hernandez will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, with all of his amateur bouts coming in the 559 Fights promotion. LaGrange will enter the bout riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in almost five years. LaGrange has not been in any kind of top form in a long time and Hernandez did well as an amateur, which will transition to the fighter making a successful pro debut.
A pair of middleweights will collide next as Kenny “Tha’ Dragon†Ento (14-13-0) clashes with JC Llamas (4-4-0). Ento has only won just two of his last nine fights and he has not put a winning streak together in over seven years. Llamas will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a bout in well over a year. This is a must win situation for both competitors in this one, but it will be the more experienced Ento getting that much needed win.
Featherweight division action will be happening next as Alexander Crispim (8-5-0) stands across the cage from Tony Llamas (12-15-0-1NC). Crispim has won just one of his last four fight and he will be returning to action after a year-plus absence. Llamas has only won just one of his last three bouts and he will be returning to TPF competition after a two year absence. Llamas may have a huge experience edge in this bout, but that will not be enough as Crispim walks away with the win.
Even more lightweight division action is next as Dominic “All Day†Clark (7-3-0) will see action against Mario “Dr. Mario†Soto (5-1-0). Clark has won four of his last five fights and one of those victories came over UFC veteran Chris Saunders. Soto will be looking to rebound from his first pro MMA defeat, which came to Sinjen Smith at West Coast Fighting Championship 11. This is easily the best non-title fight on the whole card, but it will be Clark walking away with the win in this one.
We move to the flyweight division for the next bout as Luis “Speedy†Gonzalez (5-3-0) looks for the win against Anthony “Antdawg†Figueroa (9-7-1). Gonzalez will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, but he has only fought one time in the last three years. Figueroa will be returning to action after a year layoff, but he has fought UFC veterans Chris Cariaso and Darren Uyenoyama. These are two flyweights who are looking to boost their career with the win, but it will be Figueroa moving up the ranks with a win.
More featherweight division action is next as Isaac DeJesus (12-6-1-1NC) sees action against Adrian Diaz (6-3-1). DeJesus has won three of his last four fights and he has also seen action under the Bellator MMA banner. Diaz already holds a victory over DeJesus, which came all the way back in May 2012 at Up & Comers MMA 10. DeJesus has seen a career resurgence since his first bout against Diaz and that resurgence will continue when he gets revenge on Diaz.
Yet another bantamweight division bout is on the card as Roland “The Machine†Velasco (9-2-1) battles Sergio Cortez (9-9-0). Velasco will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and he is a former TPF Bantamweight Champion. Cortez has won two of his last three bouts and he is coming back to TPF competition after a two year break. Velasco is easily back on track to get another shot at TPF gold and he will get closer to that shot when he defeats Cortez.
Up next is a TPF Flyweight Title bout as champion Hector “Kid Alex†Sandoval (8-1-0) defends against Alex “The Decision†Perez (11-2-0). Sandoval will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Ryan Hollis at TPF 20. Perez will enter the bout riding an eight fight winning streak, with five wins coming under the TPF banner. This fight should be a lot closer than the last UFC Flyweight Title bout, but it will be Sandoval holding onto the gold in the end.
Headlining this card is a TPF Welterweight Title fight as champion Ricky “The IE Bad Boy†Legere Jr. (19-5-0) puts the gold on the line against Max “Pain†Griffin (9-1-0). Legere Jr. will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Nate Loughran at TPF 20. Griffin will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak and he is the current West Coast Fighting Championships Welterweight Champion. Legere Jr. pulled an upset when he defeated a UFC veteran to win the gold, but he will show he is a real champion when he keeps the gold as he defeats Griffin.
