There are a total of five MMA events this weekend and three of those MMA events will be taking place outside of North America, the first of them will be One FC 23. The event will be headlined by the crowning of the first One FC Middleweight Champion as Leandro Ataides faces Igor Svirid. Also, longtime MMA veteran Luis Santos competes and plenty of top MMA prospects will step into the cage.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division attraction as Jeff Huang (4-1-0) competes against Zuli “The Shark†Silawanto (6-8-0). Huang is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Bala Shetty by TKO at One FC 18. Silawanto has only won just one of his last six fights and he has not achieved a victory in nearly three years. Huang is a fighter on the rise, while Silawanto is on a downturn and that will be proven as Huang picks up another victory in One FC.
A pair of lightweights will step into the cage next as Rocky “The Outlaw†Batolbatol (5-0-0) does battle against Martin Nguyen (3-0-0). Batolbatol will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has yet to see any of his fights go past the second round. Nguyen will also be making his One FC debut in this fight and he is returning to action after a year layoff. These are two of the better prospects under the One FC banner right now, but it will be Batolbatol staying undefeated in the end.
More lightweight division action is next as Koji “The Commander†Ando (10-3-2) is in action against Zorobabel "Zoro" Moreira (7-2-0). Ando is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated Rafael Nunes by submission at One FC 18. Moreira has won three of four fights in One FC competition and he will be returning to action after a two year layoff. The long layoff is going to be affecting Moreira in this one and it will be Ando walking away with the victory.
The women’s atomweight division will be up next as Kirstie Gannaway (0-0-0) steps into the cage against Adek “Wildcat†Omar (0-0-0). Gannaway will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she has no amateur experience to speak of. Omar will also be making her professional MMA debut in this fight and she did go undefeated as an amateur. There is not much known about either woman heading into their pro debuts, but Omar has the amateur experience and that will get her the win.
Another lightweight division bout is on the card next as Amir Khan (1-1-0) dukes it out with Waqar Umar (3-1-0). Khan will be looking to build on the momentum of his first pro MMA win, which came over Jian Kai Chee at One FC 20. Umar will be looking to rebound from his first pro MMA defeat, which came to Peter Davis at One FC 14. Despite suffering a defeat in his last fight, Umar is a far better fighter when compared to Khan and he will show why when he pulls out the win.
Bantamweight division action will be happening next as Cary “The Prince†Bullos (7-1-0) clashes with Major “Majee†Overall (5-1-0). Bullos will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he will be returning to action after being away for nearly two years. Overall has won just one of two bouts in One FC competition, with that lone win coming over Bruno Pucci at One FC 16. Overall is one of the better prospects in One FC right now and he will defeat Bullos to get his second promotional win.
We move to the middleweight division for the next bout as Tatsuya Mizuno (12-10-0) stands across the cage from Aung La “The Burmese Python†N Sang (16-9-0-1NC). Mizuno has only won just one of four fights in One FC competition, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Renato Sobral. N Sang is currently undefeated under the One FC banner, having defeated Mahmoud Salama at One FC 17. The winner of this fight could be the first middleweight title challenger and it will be N Sang getting that opportunity with the win.
Yet another welterweight division bout is next as Dwayne “Punie†Hinds (10-0-0) battles Warren De Reuck (6-0-0). Hinds will be making his One FC debut in this fight and one of his career wins came over UFC veteran Gideon Ray. De Reuck will also be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has yet to see a fight go to the judge’s scorecards. This is one of the more underrated fights on the entire card, but it will be Hinds keeping himself undefeated in the end.
Up next is a welterweight division bout as Bakhtiyar Abbasov (12-3-0) takes on Luis “Sapo†Santos (60-9-1). Abbasov is currently winless in One FC competition, but he did win ten straight fights before his untimely One FC debut. Santos will be entering the fight riding a six fight winning streak and he is a veteran of the Bellator MMA promotion. Santos is one of the best fighters to never step into the UFC and he will show why when he makes a successful One FC debut.
Headlining this card is a bout for the vacant One FC Middleweight Title as Leandro Ataides (8-0-0) faces Igor “Lionheart†Svirid (9-1-0). Ataides has already won two bouts under the One FC banner, last defeating Tatsuya Mizuno at One FC 15. Svirid will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Absolute Championship Berkut promotion. These are easily two of the most worthy fighters to become the middleweight champion, but it will be Ataides leaving as the first One FC Middleweight Champion.
