A double shot of UFC events is starting to become the normal thing for MMA fans nowadays and this weekend will be no different. The first of those two shows will be UFC Fight Night 55, which will be headlined by a middleweight division bout between Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. Also, Ross Pearson is fighting Al Iaquinta and heavyweight Soa Palelei get a fight in his home country.
Kicking off the action is a heavyweight division bout as Walt “The Big Ticket†Harris (7-3-0) competes against Soa “The Hulk†Palelei (21-4-0). Harris will be starting his second run in the UFC with this fight, having gone undefeated in between appearances. Palelei has won three of four fights in his second UFC run, most notably defeating Pat Barry at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot. Palelei is one of the more underrated heavyweights in the UFC and he will get back to his winning ways as he defeats Harris.
A middleweight division clash is next as Clint “Headbussa†Hester (11-3-0) battles Robert “The Reaper†Whittaker (12-4-0). Hester is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having last defeated Antonio Braga Neto at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens. Whittaker has only won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, but he was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes. Hester is quickly building himself into a contender in the middleweight division and he will move up the rankings when he defeats Whittaker.
Up next is a lightweight division bout as Al Iaquinta (9-3-1) takes on Ross “The Real Deal†Pearson (16-7-0-1NC). Iaquinta has won four of his last five under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Ryan Couture at UFC 164. Pearson has only won just one of his last three bouts, with that lone win coming over Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night: Bader vs. St. Preux. Pearson should have won those last three fights if it were not for a few controversial calls, but he will not need the judges as he defeats Iaquinta.
Headlining this card is a middleweight division bout as Luke Rockhold (12-2-0) faces Michael “The Count†Bisping (25-6-0). Rockhold will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he is a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Bisping has rotated wins and losses in his last seven fights, with his last fight being a win over Cung Le at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le. This is one of the bigger rivalries in the UFC this year, but it will be Rockhold getting the victory to win the rivalry.
