Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and top ranked bantamweight Raphael Assuncao are both going to be out of action with injuries. Cruz reinjured his knee during training and according to a statement released by the fighter, he will not be able to return to training until the end of 2015. Assuncao suffered a broken ankle while training and he is out until mid-2015 at the earliest, both fighters were ranked in the division’s top five. With those injuries, that would leave former UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao as the only viable contender (at this point) to challenge current champion TJ Dillashaw for the gold.
