UFC ON FOX 14 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 1/23/2015 9:56 AM

The UFC is heading to Stockholm, Sweden this Saturday Night with the first UFC On Fox card for the year 2015. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight title eliminator as Alexander Gustafsson battles Anthony Johnson. Also, Dan Henderson returns to middleweight to face Gegard Mousasi and a pair of top level wrestlers battle it out.

Main Card

Main Event

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson (16-2-0) vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (18-4-0)

Gustafsson will be returning to action after being away from competition for nearly a year, last competing in March 2014 as he defeated Jimi Manuwa. Johnson has been very dominant in his second UFC run, defeating both Phil Davis and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Gustafsson has already competed against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, which happened back at UFC 165 and the bout was considered to be the greatest title bout in UFC history. Johnson enters the fight riding an eight fight winning streak, with six of those wins coming over current and past UFC veterans. This bout comes down to whether or not Gustafsson can avoid the power of Johnson, which he will by keeping him at range to secure a fifth round submission.

Co-Main Event

UFC Middleweight Division Fight

Dan “Hendo” Henderson (30-12-0) vs. Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi (35-5-2)

Henderson will be returning to the middleweight division in this fight after a disastrous 2-4-0 run as a light heavyweight in his second UFC run. Mousasi has rotated wins and losses throughout his four fight UFC run, with his last fight being a loss to Ronaldo Souza at UFC Fight Night: Jacare vs. Mousasi. Henderson is a former two division champion in PRIDE, winning both the promotions light heavyweight and middleweight titles. If Mousasi were to drop this fight, it would be the first time in the fighters twelve year MMA career that he suffered a losing streak. Henderson is nearing the twilight of his MMA career and Mousasi has the skills to get him to the ground and keep him there to get the decision.

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Ryan “Darth” Bader (18-4-0) vs. “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis (13-2-0-1NC)

Bader will enter this fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a win over former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Rafael Cavalcante. Davis has won four of his last five, with two of those wins coming over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida and past title challenger Glover Teixeira. This fight should be an amateur wrestling fans dream MMA bout, but it will be Bader using his bigger striking advantage to get a close decision over Davis.

UFC Featherweight Division Bout

Akira Corassani (12-5-0-1NC) vs. Sam Sicilia (13-5-0)

Corassani will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, having dropped fights to Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway. Sicilia has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC appearances, with his last fight being a loss to Katsunori Kikuno at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Nelson. These two fighters got a gift by being included on the main card, despite neither doing much to warrant a spot, but it will be Corassani winning a slugfest in his home country.
