There is a total of four MMA events coming to us this weekend and this Friday Night will feature two of those events. Opposite of Bellator 133 that night will be Legacy Fighting Championships 38, which features UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani in the main event. There is a monstrous total of seven fights on the card (including the main event), with some of the best MMA prospects in action.
Main Card
Main Event
Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight
Anthony “The Assassin†Njokuani (16-9-0-1NC) vs. David “The Duke†Burrow (12-5-0)
Njokuani will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Daron Cruickshank at UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine. Burrow is a late replacement fighter in this bout, having competed less than a month ago at an Xtreme Fighting Inc. event. Njokuani has not won two fights (or more) in a row in nearly six years, his last win streak came during his time in the WEC. Burrow will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and none of his seventeen pro fights went to a decision. Burrow would have had a better shot of he had more prep time, Njokuani will using his superior striking to get a first round TKO.
Co-Main Event
Legacy FC Flyweight Division Fight
Joseph Sandoval (7-4-0) vs. Jason “Wild Thing†Sampson (11-1-0)
Sandoval is a UFC veteran who has won just one of his last five fights and he is also returning to action after a year-plus layoff. Sampson will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and he is a veteran of Bellator MMA. Prior to ending his losing streak at Legacy FC 22, Sandoval had not earned a victory in just about four years. Sampson also competed in the lone MMA Fight Pit: Genesis pay-per-view, defeating Joshua Montoya by submission. Sandoval is far from the prospect he once was a few years back and Sampson will ride him out to a decision as Sandoval returns to his losing ways.
Legacy FC Bantamweight Division Fight
Caio Machado (5-1-0) vs. Steven “Ocho†Peterson (11-4-0)
Machado will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to UFC veteran Thomas Almeida at Legacy FC 32. Peterson will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a pair of victories over Ray Rodriguez. Machado was on the wrong end of a beating from Almeida in his last Legacy FC appearance, but he rebounds to submit Peterson.
Legacy FC Bantamweight Division Fight
Augusto “Tanquinho†Mendes (3-0-0) vs. Evan Martinez (4-0-0)
Mendes made his professional MMA debut just last year and he has only seen one fight go past the opening round. Martinez will be returning to Legacy FC competition after a two year absence, with his last promotional appearance coming at Legacy FC 13. Mendes is an absolute machine when the fight hits the ground and that is where it will go when Mendes gets the first round submission.
Legacy FC Middleweight Division Fight
Evan “The Titan†Thompson (5-1-0) vs. Charles Byrd (5-3-0)
Thompson has spent the majority of his career in Legacy FC, winning four of his previous five fights in the promotion. Byrd will be moving up a weight class in this fight, as he spent his entire career until this point in the welterweight division. Thompson is going to come into the fight much heavier when compared to Byrd and Thompson will use that advantage to grind out a decision.
Legacy FC Bantamweight Division Fight
Saul Elizondo (6-4-0) vs. Eli “Tomahawk†Tamez (8-0-0)
Elizondo has only won just one of his last three heading into this bout and he is returning to Legacy FC after a two-plus year layoff. Tamez has spent the last two years under the Legacy FC banner, having already won four fights in the promotion. Tamez has been dominating all of his opponents thus far in Legacy FC and this fight will be no different as he gets a decision on Elizondo.
Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight
Andrew Parker (5-0-0) vs. Bilal Williams (3-0-0)
Parker made his promotional debut back at Legacy FC 33 last year, where he defeated Melvin Jordan by first round submission. Williams competed less than a month ago at Xtreme Knockout 24, where he defeated Lior Shporen by decision. Williams may have made a bad choice by competing so soon since his last fight and it will cost him as Parker gets the first round finish.
Preliminary Card
Mark Delarosa over Keetan Gorton
George Pacarariu over Tristan Grimsley
Levi Mowles over Ivan Cole
