Despite just about every problem that can happen to a UFC event actually happening, UFC 186 is still going to be taking place this weekend. The event will be headlined by a flyweight title bout as Demetrious Johnson defends the gold against Kyoji Horiguchi. Also, Quinton Jackson returns to the UFC, while Michael Bisping faces CB Dollaway in a key middleweight division bout.
Main Card
Main Event
UFC Flyweight Title Fight
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse†Johnson (21-2-1) (Champion) vs. Kyoji Horiguchi (15-1-0)
Johnson will be making the sixth defense of his championship, last defending it against Chris Cariaso at UFC 178. Horiguchi is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with notably wins coming over Darrell Montague and Louis Gaudinot. Johnson has not lost a fight in nearly four years, with his last defeat coming to then-UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz at UFC On Versus VI. Horiguchi has already won gold in his MMA career, as he is a former Vale Tudo Japan Flyweight Champion. Horiguchi is the best striker that Johnson has faced thus far in the UFC, but Johnson has an amazing wrestling game and that will earn him a decision win.
Co-Main Event
UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Quinton “Rampage†Jackson (35-11-0) vs. Fabio “Caipira De Aco†Maldonado (22-7-0)
Jackson will be returning to the UFC for the first time in over two years, having won three fights in Bellator MMA in between appearances. Maldonado has won four of his last five under the UFC banner, with that lone loss coming at heavyweight to Stipe Miocic at the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil III Finale. During his time in Bellator MMA, Jackson actually won the final light heavyweight tournament, defeating King Mo in the finals. Maldonado will be fighting outside of Brazil for the first time in nearly three years, with his last stateside appearance being a loss to Igor Pokrajac at UFC On Fuel TV III. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest, which Maldonado will win via a very close decision on the scorecards.
UFC Middleweight Division Fight
Michael “The Count†Bisping (25-7-0) vs. CB “The Doberman†Dollaway (15-6-0)
Bisping has rotated wins and losses in his last six UFC appearances, with his last fight being a loss to Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping. Dollaway has won two of his last three under the UFC banner and this will be the first time he has fought outside of Brazil in nearly two years. Bisping is a volume striker and that will cause problems for Dollaway, Bisping will get a decision win here.
UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Shane “Shaolin†Campbell (11-2-0) vs. John “The Bull†Makdessi (12-3-0)
Campbell will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Maximum Fighting Championships. Makdessi has won three of his last four fights under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Daron Cruickshank at UFC 158. These are two very good strikers, but Makdessi has the better overall striking game and he will get a second round TKO victory to spoil Campbell’s UFC debut.
UFC Bantamweight Division Fight
Thomas “Thominhas†Almeida (17-0-0) vs. Yves “Tiger†Jabouin (20-9-0)
Almeida has already won a fight under the UFC banner, which came over Tim Gorman at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. St. Preux. Jabouin has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC appearances, with his last fight being a win over Mike Easton at UFC 174. Almeida may be the best bantamweight to hit the UFC in a long time, Almeida gets the first round TKO on Jabouin.
