RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE 27 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

With the UFC preparing for its biggest week of the year in anticipation of UFC 189, the Resurrection Fighting Alliance takes center stage with MMA action this weekend. The event will be headlined by a huge bantamweight division attraction as Jesse Brock faces Joe Murphy. Also, Czar Sklavos faces Nick Burgos in the co-main event and other top MMA prospects will enter the cage.

Main Card

Main Event

RFA Bantamweight Division Fight

Joe Murphy (8-2-0) vs. Jesse Brock (20-8-0)

Murphy has won just one of two bouts under the RFA banner, with that lone win coming over Bruno Frazatto at RFA 21. Brock will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he will be doing so while on a four fight winning streak. Murphy also competed once under the World Series Of Fighting, suffering a defeat to UFC veteran Carson Beebe. Brock has also competed in Bellator MMA and he is a former Sport Fight Bantamweight Champion, he will the gold in 2011. Brock is best when taking the fight to the ground, which is where Murphy is at his best, Murphy submits Brock in the second.

Co-Main Event

RFA Flyweight Division Fight

Czar “The Gunfighter” Sklavos (11-4-0) vs. Nick Burgos (9-3-0)

Sklavos will be making his RFA debut in this fight and he does so after earning winning four of his last five fights. Burgos will also be making his promotional debut in this fight and he has not suffered a defeat in nearly two years. Sklavos once challenged for the Vale Tudo Japan Flyweight Title, suffering a decision defeat to Hiromasa Ogikubo. Prior to making his RFA debut this coming Friday Night, Burgos has previously defeated former RFA Flyweight Champion Matt Manzanares at Jeremy Horn’s Elite Fight Night 26. Sklavos is a submission wizard and it will not take him long to drag Burgos to the ground, where he will get the first round submission.

RFA Heavyweight Division Fight

Jan “The Janimal” Jorgensen (7-1-0-1NC) vs. “Mr. Incredible” Josue Lugo (7-1-0-1NC)

Jorgensen is currently winless under the RFA banner, having dropped a bout to Josh Copeland via TKO at RFA 16. Lugo will be making his RFA debut in this fight and the last five fights of his career have all ended within the opening round. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest, but Lugo will catch Jorgensen quickly to get a first round finish.

RFA Featherweight Division Fight

Daniel “Agent Orange” Swain (12-4-1) vs. Scott “Tickle Fight” Thometz (7-4-0)

Swain will be returning to RFA competition after a one year absence and he is currently winless in the promotion. Thometz has only won just two of his last six fights and this fight will be marking his promotional debut in this fight. Thometz has not been to impressive in his last few outings, Swain eventually gets him to the ground for a submission finish.

RFA Lightweight Division Fight

Stephen Martinez (10-3-0) vs. Darrell Flores (4-3-0)

Martinez has won six of his last seven fights heading into his RFA debut and he has competed against UFC veteran Ernest Chavez. Flores is actually undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated Mitch Peterson by submission at RFA 16. Martinez stumbled in his last fight before heading to the RFA, he submits Flores in the first round here.

RFA Welterweight Division Fight

Miles “Head Hunter” Hunsinger (4-0-0) vs. Austin Miller (2-1-0)

Hunsinger will be making his RFA debut in this fight and none of his professional MMA bouts have gone to a decision. Miller will make his RFA debut on a two fight winning streak and this will mark his third fight of this calendar year. Hunsinger is on a great roll right now and he overwhelms Miller with his ground game to get a submission finish.
