Capping off another thrilling weekend of MMA action will be the talent filled UFC Fight Night 73 event in Nashville, Tennessee. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight division battle as Ovince St. Preux faces Glover Teixeira. Also, Michael Johnson faces Beneil Dariush and there is an important women’s bantamweight division bout as well.

UFC Light Heavyweight Division Fight
Ovince “OSP†St. Preux (18-6-0) vs. Glover Teixeira (22-4-0)
St. Preux will be headlining a UFC event for the third time, he has amassed a record of 1-1-0 in his previous headlining bouts. Teixeira will enter the bout on a two fight losing streak, dropping fights to Jon Jones and Phil Davis respectively. St. Preux has won four of five fights during his UFC run, most notably defeating Mauricio Rua at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. St. Preux. Prior to suffering a two fight losing streak, Teixeira won twenty fights in a row and the winning streak lasted eight years. Teixeira has started to show signs of wear and tear in his last few fights, St. Preux uses his striking game to get a close decision win.

UFC Lightweight Division Fight
Beneil Dariush (11-1-0) vs. Michael “The Menace†Johnson (16-8-0)
Dariush will enter the fight on the strength of a four fight winning streak, most notably defeating Jim Miller at UFC On Fox 15. Johnson will also come into the fight on a four fight winning streak, last defeating Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs. Mir. Dariush will be competing for the third time in 2015, with his other two wins this year coming over Jim Miller and Daron Cruickshank. Johnson has defeated two TUF alumni during his four fight winning streak, those defeated TUF alumni were Melvin Guillard and Joe Lauzon. Johnson’s best chance is to keep Dariush at a distance with his striking, Dariush will eventually find a way to ground Johnson to secure a decision win.
UFC Middleweight Division Fight
“Smile’n†Sam Alvey (26-6-0-1NC) vs. Derek Brunson (13-3-0)
Alvey will enter this fight on the strength of a three fight winning streak, most notably defeating Cezar Ferreira at UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs. Mir. Brunson has won four of five during his time in the UFC, last defeating Ed Herman by first round TKO at UFC 183. Alvey has one of the more interesting striking games in the UFC, he catches Brunson in the third for a TKO finish.
UFC Heavyweight Division Fight
Timothy Johnson (9-1-0) vs. Jared “The Big Show†Rosholt (12-2-0)
Johnson is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas. Rosholt has won four of five fights during him time in the UFC, most notably defeating Soa Palelei at UFC Fight Night: Te Huna vs. Marquardt. Rosholt is one of the best wrestlers in the heavyweight division at the moment, he grounds Johnson on route to a decision win.
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Division Fight
Sara McMann (8-2-0) vs. Amanda “Lioness†Nunes (10-4-0)
McMann has rotated wins and losses throughout her UFC run, with her last bout being a loss to Meisha Tate at UFC 183. Nunes has won three of four fights during her UFC run, with a notable victory coming over Shayna Baszler at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. LaFlare. Nunes is easily the better striker when compared to McMann, but McMann’s wrestling is her best weapon and she grounds Nunes to earn a decision win.
UFC Flyweight Division Fight
Ray “The Tazmexican Devil†Borg (8-1-0) vs. Geane “La Pulga†Herrera (8-0-0)
Borg will enter the fight on a two fight winning streak, last defeating Chris Kelades at UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Thatch. Herrera will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Real Fighting Championships promotion. These are two of the better submission artists of the flyweight division, Borg gets a close decision win in this ground duel.
