LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 44 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 8/26/2015 5:31 PM

There are only a pair of MMA events taking place this weekend, with both of those events happening this Friday Night. Legacy FC 44 will be headlined by a huge welterweight division bout that will be pitting Valdir Araujo against Alex Morono. Also, several undefeated fighters and a plethora of top notch MMA prospects will be stepping into the cage.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight

Valdir “BB Monstro” Araujo (14-5-0) vs. Alex Morono (9-3-0)

Araujo will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight, but he has fought UFC veterans Paul Bradley, Chris Weidman and Tyler Stinson. Morono has won five of seven fights under the Legacy FC banner and he enters this fight on a three fight winning streak. Araujo did fight twice in Bellator MMA, where he once competed in a welterweight tournament for the promotion. Morono has been on a decent streak with his current three fight run, with all of those victories being first round finishes. Araujo is returning to action after a long layoff, Morono uses he more versatile game to get a decision win in the headliner.

Co-Main Event

Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight

Bilal Williams (3-1-0) vs. “The American Bad Boy” Charlie Ontiveros (5-3-0)

Williams will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Andrew Parker at Legacy FC 38. Ontiveros has rotated wins and losses in his last six bouts, with his last bout being a loss to Geoff Neal at Legacy FC 37. Williams made his professional MMA debut a little over a year ago and only one of his bouts went to the judge’s scorecards. Ontiveros has spent his entire career in Legacy FC and he has not put together a winning streak in three years. Ontiveros may be entering the fight with an experience advantage, but it will be Williams tapping him out in the second round.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Carrington “Jetsetter” Banks (3-0-0) vs. Justin “The Wolverine” Reiswerg (8-4-0)

Banks will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he is returning to action after a two-plus year absence. Reiswerg has won three of his last four fights, but he is coming off of a loss to Bellator MMA veteran Mike Bronzoulis. Banks long layoff is going to negatively affect him in this one, Reiswerg gets a quick submission win in this one.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Rey “The Warrior” Trujillo (18-14-0) vs. Jonathan “The Hulk” Harris (9-5-0)

Trujillo has won three of his last four bouts and he is returning to Legacy FC after an eighteen month absence. Harris has rotated wins and losses in his most recent Legacy FC run, with his last fight being a loss to Mike Bronzoulis at Legacy FC 39. This fight should be nothing short of a violent slugfest, Trujillo makes a successful return to the promotion by getting a first round TKO over Harris.

Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight

Rocky Long (21-32-1) vs. Sage Northcutt (4-0-0)

Long has only won just one of his last six fights and he once challenged for the Immortal Kombat Fighting Welterweight Title. Northcutt has spent the majority of his career in Legacy FC and all of his wins have come via first round finishes. Long may have a huge experience advantage when compared to Northcutt, but Northcutt will quickly finish Long with strikes in the opening round.

Legacy FC Bantamweight Division Fight

Colin Wright (2-2-0) vs. Ryan “Riptide” Hollis (9-5-0)

Wright will enter the fight on a two fight winning streak and he is returning to Legacy FC after a two year absence. Hollis has won two of his last three fights and he once challenged for the Tachi Palace Fights Bantamweight Title. Wright may have gotten his record to a better state, but it will go sub-par again when Hollis submits him in the first.

Preliminary Card

Mike Trinh over Ramiro Ruiz

Danny Orr over Patrick Hutton

Roberto Sanchez over Mike Deleon

Jason Langellier over Mike Lyons
