ONE CHAMPIONSIPS 32 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 11/11/2015 11:31 AM

The ever growing One Championships (formerly One FC) is returning to action on Friday morning with a big welterweight title rematch in the headliner. That rematch will see One FC Welterweight Champion Ben Askren again defending the gold against Luis Santos. Also, Dejdamrong De Amnuaysirichoke defends the flyweight title and several other top MMA prospects are stepping into the cage.

Main Event

One FC Welterweight Title Fight

“Funky” Ben Askren (14-0-0-1NC) (Champion) vs. Luis “Sapo” Santos (61-9-1-1NC)

Askren kept his title in the first meeting with Santos back at One Championships 26, he held it after the bout was declared a no contest after an accidental eye poke. Santos had won seven straight bouts prior to the no contest, which included a win over UFC veteran Shamar Bailey. Askren is also a former Bellator MMA Welterweight Champion, having successfully defended the belt four times before leaving the promotion. Santos has not seen a fight of his go to a decision in well over four years and a stretch of ten total fights. Santos will have a shot as long as he keeps the fight standing, but Askren is the best wrestler in all of MMA and he will eventually ground Santos on route to a decision.

Co-Main Event

One FC Flyweight Title Fight

Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” De Amnuaysirichoke (5-0-0) (Champion) vs. Yago Bryan “Codorninha” Farias De Morais (3-0-0)

Amnuaysirichoke will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Roy Doliguez at One Championships 27. De Morais will be making his One Championships debut in this bout, but he is a veteran of Shooto Brazil. Amnuaysirichoke has spent his entire career in One Championships, with only one of his pro bouts go to a decision. De Morais will be returning to action after a year layoff and this will be the first time he has competed outside of Brazil. Amnuaysirichoke is a far better skilled fighter than his opponent, Amnuaysirichoke scores a second round submission to keep the belt.

One FC Featherweight Division Fight

Kotetsu “No Face” Boku (22-10-2) vs. Major “Majee” Overall (6-1-0)

Boku has won two of five fights during his time in One Championships and he will be returning to the promotion after a year-plus absence. Overall will be entering the fight on a four fight winning streak and none of his pro bouts have gone to the judge’s scorecards. Boku’s best shot at winning will be to keep the fight standing, but Overall will get him to the ground for a submission finish.

One FC Women’s Strawweight Division Fight

Natalie “The Kilapino” Gonzales Hills (2-2-0) vs. “Unstoppable” Angela Lee (2-0-0)

Hill will be making her One Championships debut in this fight, but she does so while on a two fight losing streak. Lee has spent her entire professional MMA career in One Championships, with both of her wins coming in the first round. These are two fighters who will want to do battle on the ground, which is where Lee gets a very close decision victory.

One FC Featherweight Division Fight

Amir Khan (3-2-0) vs. Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo (4-1-0-1NC)

Khan has won three of four fights under the One Championships banner, but he is coming off of a loss to Shannon Wiratchai at One Championships 27. Yabo is currently winless in One Championships competition, dropping a bout to Edward Kelly at One Championships 26. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest from bell to bell, but Yabo will eventually catch Khan with strikes for a first round finish.

One FC Heavyweight Division Fight

Alain “The Panther” Ngalani (1-2-0-1NC) vs. Igor Subora (5-2-0)

Ngalani will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he has not earned a victory in well over two years. Subora is currently winless in One Championships, but all of his five victories have come via first round finishes. Ngalani is literally getting thrown to the wolves here, Subora easily destroys him with strikes for another first round finish.

One FC Featherweight Division Fight

“The Ferociuos” Edward Kelly (6-2-0) vs. Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen (4-1-0)

Kelly has won just one fo three fights in One Championships, with that lone win coming over Jimmy Yabo at One Championships 26. Nguyen will be competing for the first title since losing a featherweight title shot to Marat Gafurov at One Championships 31. This fight should have easily been in a main event position on the card with the talent involved, but it will be Kelly inching a close decision win here.

One FC Featherweight Division Fight

Benedict “Ditinho” Ang (1-0-0) vs. Yohan Mulia Legowo (7-3-0)

Ang made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at One Championships 27, defeating Waqar Umar by decision. Legowo will enter the fight on a two fight losing streak and he has only competed one time in nearly five years. Legowo has the experience edge, but his lack of cage time is a question mark here, Ang grinds out a decision win.

One FC Featherweight Division Fight

Nathan Ng (1-0-0) vs. Li Kai Wen (3-2-0)

Ng made his professional MMA debut at One FC 18 in July 2014, defeating Florian Garel by first round submission. Wai will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both of those wins coming in One Championships. These are two fighters who have been inactive in the last year, it will be Ng getting another submission win in this one.
