The night before the world’s biggest MMA fighter in Ronda Rousey returns to the octagon, we will get another stellar card from the Legacy Fighting Championships. The event will be headlined by a middleweight title bout as champion Leonardo Leite defends against Ryan Spann. Also, UFC veteran Sean Soriano faces Bellator MMA veteran Josh Quayhagen and four other top MMA prospects are in action.
(Note: The event also features a light heavyweight kickboxing tournament, I will only be previewing the MMA portion of the card.)
Main Card
Main Event
Legcay FC Middleweight Title Fight
Leonardo Leite (6-0-0) (Champion) vs. Ryan “Superman†Spann (8-1-0)
Leite will be making the second defense of his championship, last defending it against Larry Crowe at Legacy FC 39. Spann is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated Larry Crowe at Legacy FC 42. Leite is also a veteran of the Bitetti Combat promotion, where he defeated both Elias Mendonca and Diosman Nery De Jesus. Spann will be fighting for the fourth time this year, having won all three of his previous fights in 2015. Spann’s strength is to get the fight to the ground, but Leite will keep him at bay with his strikes to keep his belt with a close decision.
Co-Main Event
Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight
Josh “Quay†Quayhagen (8-3-0) vs. Sean Soriano (8-3-0)
Quayhagen is coming off of the biggest win of his career, defeating UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani at Legacy FC 42. Soriano will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Charles Rosa at UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Siver. Quayhagen had a four fight run in Bellator MMA, where he earned a notable win over Cosmo Alexandre. Prior to his poor run in the UFC, Soriano was the Championship Fighting Alliance Lightweight Champion. Quayhagen may not have the most exciting style in MMA right now, but it works and he will prove it again by grinding out a win over another UFC veteran.
Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight
Kolton Englund (3-1-0) vs. Gage “The Dominator†Duhon (4-2-0)
Englund will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a win over Josh Foster at Legacy FC: Challengers Series I. Duhon is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner, having dropped a fight to UFC veteran Sage Northcutt at Legacy FC 42. Duhon has a very underrated ground game, but it will be enough for him to submit Englund in the first round.
Legacy FC Bantamweight Division Fight
Trent Meaux (2-1-0) vs. Joel “The Demon†Scott (4-4-0)
Meaux is currently winless in Legacy FC competition, having lost a fight to Roberto Sanchez at Legacy FC 42. Scott will be competing for the fifth time this year, having won two of his previous four contests this year. Meaux is known for finishing fights in a very fast manner, Meaux will do it again as he finishes Scott with strikes in the first.
Preliminary Card
Aaron Davis over Edgar Verdin
Danny Orr over Marcus Andrusia
