LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 49 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 12/3/2015 10:37 PM

In the middle of a three pack of MMA action this weekend is yet another loaded card from the Legacy Fighting Championships. The event will be headlined by a pair of title bouts as Derrick Krantz defends the welterweight belt against Alex Morono and Andrea Lee faces Ariel Beck for the vacant women’s flyweight title. Also, a trio of undefeated competitors and longtime Legacy FC veteran Matt Schnell will be in action.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC Welterweight Title Fight

Derrick “D-Rock” Krantz (17-8-0) (Champion) vs. Alex “The Great White” Morono (10-3-0)

Krantz will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating UFC veteran Brock Larson at Legacy FC 43. Morono will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes a win over WSOF veteran Valdir Araujo. Krantz is a fighter who is known for being in fights that do not last the full three to five rounds, his last fight that went to a decision occurred over four years ago. Morono will be competing for the fourth time in 2015, which is the most active he has been in a single year since turning pro in 2010. Krantz is starting to come into his own and he will make a successful title defense by submitting Morono on the third.

Co-Main Event

Legacy FC Women’s Flyweight Title Decision Fight

Ariel Beck (3-1-0) vs. Andrea “KGB” Lee (3-1-0)

Beck will be making her Legacy FC debut in this fight, but she will be doing so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Lee will also be making her Legacy FC debut in this fight and she is a veteran of the Invicta FC promotion. Beck is a two fight veteran of the Fight Force promotion, where she defeated Angela Hayes and DJ Morrison. Although Lee did not compete in Legacy FC as a pro, she did compete there as an amateur, defeating Valerie Aspaas at Legacy FC 32. Both women are good when it comes to the striking game, but Lee’s is just a little better and she will outstrike Beck on route to a decision win.

Legacy FC Flyweight Division Fight

Jonathon Martinez (7-0-0) vs. Matt “Danger” Schnell (7-2-0)

Martinez will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he is the current Xtreme Fight League Flyweight Champion. Schnell will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and all of those wins came via first round finishes. Martinez will keep this interesting as long as he stays on his feet, but Schnell will quickly ground him to pick up a decision win.

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

David “Able” Bosnick (6-2-0) vs. “The Angel Of Death” Kevin Aguilar (9-1-0)

Bosnick will be competing for the first time in well over a year and this fight will mark his Legacy FC debut. Aguilar has won three of four under the Legacy FC banner, with that lone loss coming to UFC veteran Leonard Garcia. This fight should be nothing short of a slugfest for as long as it lasts, but it will be Aguilar getting a first round TKO finish.

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

Kalvin “Hot Boy” Hackney (14-3-0) vs. Cody “The Crow” Walker (5-3-0)

Hackney will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight, but he did compete twice under the Bellator MMA banner. Walker is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner, dropping a fight to Ricardo Lucas Ramos at Legacy FC 46. Hackney is a far better striker when compared to Walker, Hackney uses that advantage to finish him in the second round.

Legacy FC Women’s Atomweight Division Fight

Stephanie “The Cyclone” Alba (2-0-0) vs. Andy “The Crasian” Nguyen (1-0-0)

Alba will be returning to action after a year-plus layoff, last defeating Maria Lopez by submission at Legacy FC 37. Nguyen made her professional MMA debut earlier this year at Vegeance Fighting Alliance VI, defeating Corrie Ward by TKO. Nguyen will want to turn this fight into a striking battle, but Alba will eventually ground her on route to a decision.

Preliminary Card

Robin White over Josh Mosquea

Ariel Juarez over Chase Henry
