LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 50 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 1/21/2016 7:58 PM

This Friday Night will be a historic one for Legacy Fighting Championships as the promotion will be running their 50th event. The event will be headlined by a welterweight division bout as Evangelista Santos faces Artenas Young. Also, longtime MMA veteran Rey Trujillo and eleven other top MMA prospects will be stepping into the cage.

Main Card

Main Event

Legacy FC Welterweight Division Fight

Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (19-16-0) vs. Artenas “The Machine Gun” Young (10-9-0)

Santos will be returning to action after a year and a half layoff, as his last bout was a loss to Melvin Manhoef at Gringo Super Fight X. Young will enter the bout riding a three fight losing streak, with one of those losses coming to UFC veteran Tim Means. Santos has been very inactive in recent years and the last time he competed twice or morein a year came in 2011. Young has not won a bout in Legacy FC in over four years, his last promotional win came over Bubba Bush at Legacy FC 11. Neither of these fighters are really a top level threat in any MMA promotion, but it will be Young getting an early first round TKO finish.

Co-Main Event

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Jared Chaffee (5-1-0) vs. Ray Blodget (9-3-0)

Chaffee has won two of three fights under the Legacy FC banner, but his last fight in the promotion was a loss to Justin Reiswerg at Legacy FC 31. Blodget will be returning to Legacy FC after a three year absence, but he has won five of seven fights in the promotion. Chaffee is coming off of a one fight appearance in Bellator MMA, where he defeated Guilherme Farias Da Costa at Bellator 143. Blodget is actually an important fighter in Legacy FC lore as he was the promotions first ever lightweight champion. Chaffee’s best shot at winning is to use his wrestling game, but that will lead him to getting tapped in the first round by Blodget.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Jonathan “The Hulk” Harris (10-5-0) vs. Justin “The Wolverine” Reiswerg (8-5-0)

Harris has rotated wins and losses in his last five Legacy FC appearances, with his last bout being a win over Rey Trujillo at Legacy FC 44. Reiswerg will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not earned a win in nearly two years. Reiswerg will want to ground Harris to get a win, but Harris has a good striking game and he keeps Reiswerg at range to earn a decision.

Legacy FC Lightweight Division Fight

Charles Cheeks III (9-4-0) vs. Rey “The Warrior” Trujillo (18-15-0)

Cheeks III is currently winless in Legacy FC, having dropped bouts to Alex Black and Donald Sanchez respectively. Trujillo has only won just one of his last three bouts, with that lone win coming over Jamall Emmers at Hero FC IV. Trujillo has been around forever and he is a true veteran of the sport, he pounds out a first round TKO over Cheeks III.

Legacy FC Featherweight Division Fight

Michael Rodriguez (6-4-0) vs. Alex “Bet On” Black (8-4-0)

Rodriguez will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and none of his tens professional MMA bouts went to a decision. Black has won seven of his last eight bouts heading into this encounter, which includes three wins in Legacy FC. Black and Rodriguez will both want to take the fight to the ground, which is where Black will score a decision win.

Legacy FC Flyweight Division Fight

David Acosta (2-0-0) vs. Roberto Sanchez (3-0-0)

Acosta has spent his entire professional MMA career in Legacy FC and he will be returning to action after a year-plus layoff. Sanchez has also spent his entire professional MMA career in Legacy FC, with two of his wins being first round finishes. These are two fighters who are best when the fight is on the ground, but it will be Sanchez tapping Acosta in the first round.

Legacy FC Heavyweight Division Fight

Jeremy Hardy (2-0-0) vs. Dale “The Alpha Male” Mitchell (6-6-0)

Hardy will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight and he will also be returning to action after a year-plus layoff. Mitchell has won just one of three under the Legacy FC banner, with that lone win coming over Chad Cook at Legacy FC 18. This fight will be a slugfest for as long as the battle lasts, but it will be Hardy scoring the first round TKO finish on Mitchell.

Preliminary Card

Chris Rose over Chad Cook

Shakeem Richardson over Dulani Perry

Adam Copley over David Kelley
