BELLATOR 148 PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS

By David Tees on 1/27/2016 9:28 PM

For the first time in 2016, Bellator MMA is coming to you with the first of almost twenty events this coming year. This event will be headlined by a key welterweight division bout as Paul Daley faces Andy Uhrich. Also, Paul Bradley again battles Chris Honeycutt and Ryan Couture makes his return to the Bellator MMA cage.

Main Card

Main Event

Bellator MMA Welterweight Division Fight

Paul “Semtex” Daley (37-13-2) vs. Andy “Stunner” Uhrich (11-5-0)

Daley is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, last defeating Dennis Olson by TKO at Bellator 140. Uhrich has won just one of three under the Bellator MMA banner and he is returning to the promotion after a year-plus absence. Daley has only lost one bout in the last three years, that loss came to Alexander Yakovlev at Legend MMA:Part Two. Uhroch has competed three times since his last Bellator MMA appearance, most notab;y defeating Bobby Cooper at Titan FC 33. Uhrich’s best shot at winning is to ground Daley, but Daley’s striking is to good for that to happen and Daley finishes Uhrich in the first.

Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA Welterweight Division Fight

Paul “The Gentleman” Bradley (22-6-0-2NC) vs. Chris “The Cutt” Honeycutt (6-0-0-1NC)

Bradley had fought Honeycutt before at Bellator 140, but the bout was declared a no contest due to an accidental headbutt. Honeycutt won two bouts in Bellator MMA before the no contest, including a win over UFC veteran Aaron Wilkinson. Bradley is a UFC veteran as well, but he unfortunately lost both of his bouts in the promotion, his last bout there was at UFC On Fox I. Prior to coming to Bellator MMA in 2014, Honeycutt was the Up & Comers MMA Welterweight Champion. Honeycutt has a great ground and pound game, this time Honeycutt grounds and pounds Bradley for the first round finish.

Bellator MMA Heavyweight Division Fight

Raphael “The Silencer” Butler (9-1-1) vs. Tony Johnson (9-2-0)

Butler has won just one of the last three under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming over Josh Diekman at Bellator 134. Johnson is coming off of the biggest win of his MMA career, as he defeated former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov at Bellator 136. These are two of the better finishers in the heavyweight division, but it will be Johnson getting the first round stoppage win.

Bellator MMA Lightweight Division Fight

Ryan Couture (10-3-0) vs. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (14-7-0)

Couture is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition, most notably defeating UFC Ultimate Fighter alumni Dakota Cochrane at Bellator 135. Freire has won just one of his last three under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming over Saad Awad at Bellator 141. Freire is one of the best strikers in the lightweight division, but Couture will ground him and get the decision win.
